Today my manager “encouraged” me to post on all my social media accounts about how we’re open for business and to ask that they consider Sears/Kmart for both immediate and holiday shopping needs.
Has anyone else been “encouraged” to do this? I’ve already seen two coworkers post cheery things on Facebook but no way am ai going to join in. I’ve already applied for other jobs and I’m getting out of this mess ASAP!
I haven't been asked but I do it anyways. I want is to be successful. I want my friends and family to support a company I work for.
@VIxxxqI-xya Let's talk about the truth of who is being pathetic? Sears wants their employees to provide free actionable work on their own time. Advertising is a service that companies PAY FOR. What should happen is the employee should record the time and provide proof of advertising with a bill. It costs little to nothing to register as a business, get a tax number and start accepting payments as an advertising agency. Get proof of the manager asking for this service, provide said service and then submit a bill.
It’s your money source right? New job isn’t guaranteed is it? Why wouldn’t you promote on behalf of the company putting bread on your table!

Because I'm not a robot shill on my own time YOU DON'T OWN PEOPLE. The food bank puts more food on the table for most people that work at Sears and food stamps cover the rest. Why would I post good things about a company that doesn't give enough hours to their employees to eat?
Ask to see your managers positive social media posts as a example. Or is it a do as I say not as I do kind of thing.
Sears has a team of good for nothings monitoring social media. They will just sit and tell people to give away free stuff and Service sh... t with no warranty for free so they dont have to reply to a customer and tell them what other successful companies say: no warranty, no free service. Social media in this company is a joke. Yeah, post about sears... they will find you.
Let's be real here. Nobody on this board has enough pull on social media that they should be compensated for posting about Sears. Post or don't post, but don't act like your social media would have some actual value, scrubs.

I’ve seen some friends at Hoffman posting all sorts of happy BS about how proud they are to work for SHC and that we’re still open. Mostly cooy/paste stuff too.
I understand wanting to show some pride, but what is there to be prideful of now? That we’ve closed 3000+ stores in the last ten years? That we’ve been hemorrhaging money for eight years? My last day is tomorrow and even if I was staying to “ride it out” I sure wouldn’t be posting lies on Facebook about how proud I am to work here.
Had that manager told me that, I would say "I'll get right on that."
If people believed in the company the posts would help. But management has a way killing your spirit. That carries on to us former employees and out families who have been burned like past customers.

Companies PAY individuals to promote them on social media. Think YouTubers, instagram, etc.
We used to be asked to plug our store's sales such as F&F on our social media. I pretended like I couldn't hear it. Played like my ears didn't work.
