Thread regarding Dream Center Education Holdings, LLC (DCEH) layoffs

ED preacquisition review letter to DCEH 09-17

Here is the 09-17 letter from the Department of Education giving tentative approval to Dream Center's takeover of EDMC schools & conversion to nonprofit. Not sure if it has circulated before. Let me know if you see anything interesting.

ED has not yet announced whether it's giving final approval for conversion.

Just proves they were fully aware of the financial and enrollment conditions of the schools and have no problem lying straight to your face and 'blame' EDMC for the decisions they make. Welcome to how things are 'done', we should all appreciate what we have been given here. Due to their complete ineptness we now see the rare inter-workings of a transition and the shell companies that they hide behind so they can avoid any personal responsibility, bury identities, and shirk personal responsibility in the 'name' of doing business. Let's not forget we still have a family to employ as well guys, those personal benefits will not be part of the disclosure.

I heard its benefits season, this is where you will see how non-profit they are. I have a feeling your about to get a rude awakening and some really STAR marketing treatment on some real garbage or just more of the same. Let's see if that 401k match kicks back in, of course who cares because those are trash anyways unless your an executive. Let's not fool ourselves people, these guys have no idea what non-profit or public good mean, they only care for their own. I challenge anybody to find any evidence that shows otherwise. We have a trust fund family, nijarr the money funnel, and a shady sidekick that can lie to your face without flinching. What more can you want from your friendly neighborhood christian organization?

Your in Trumpland people. Let's not forget these guys have already spent $90,000 to AvenueStategies....home of Corey Lewandowski....former Trump Campaign Manager (opensecrets). They are still in the fight spending those tuition dollars to save the nano's....powers by WoZ....um, let's not even get started....cheers!

Interesting... they’ve been marketing themselves as non profit for a year now!

Also stopped giving students mandatory Gainful Employment disclosures!

Huh imagine that.

This is what stood out to me:

"In addition to addressing DCF/DCEH Holdings lack of committed capital to ensure the ongoing financial responsibility and stability of the Institutions, the PPPA considerations set forth below are also designed to ameliorate operational and administrative capability risk. EDMC is a party to a November 2015 Settlement Agreement with the United States and a consortium of state (and District of Columbia) attorneys general wherein EDMC agreed to pay $95.5 million to settle claims brought against it in False Claims Act litigation, and to resolve a consumer fraud investigation by the attorneys general. These claims and investigations involved the inventive compensation ban, as well as deceptive and misleading recruitment practices. These claims and investigations suggest historical administrative and operational weaknesses that if not completely eradicated would put the Institutions at loss of accreditation, state licensing, and/or continued Title IV funding. Any of these events could lead to closure of the Institutions and resulting closed school loan discharges.

I have seen nothing that leads me to think that the fundamental recruiting practices have changed. The only admission requirements seem to be that the students have a pulse and can fill out a FAFSA, which is no different than before. Instead of immediately cleaning house (as DCEH should have done), we got EDMC v.2—formerly known as Grand Canyon University. Hey, DCEH, ever consider hiring REAL educators? They're out there.
