However it ends for me personally, I know I am. Anything is better that stressing so much from all the uncertainty. I'm at a point where I'd happily volunteer to be laid off, even with miserable severance.
Do you think that is the goal? Tire us out enough that most of us leaves on our own?
My feelings aren't hurt... it's just annoying to wait. There are decisions I need to make and those decisions depend on whether i'm getting a severance or an offer.
I wish everyone would stop whining. There's nothing in it for broadcom to tell employees any earlier than they want to. Waiting till late gives them the flexibility to decide if someone is going to be held temporarily or fired right away.
You are a commodity. Stop getting your feelings hurt. Literally no one cares besides your friends how you feel.
I personally am super glad that I am being laid off. I get my Severance and my RSus vest.
We don't live in in an app economy. We live in a gig economy as far as corporate management is concerned. It is been that way forever literally since the beginning of the industrialized Revolution. A few years in the 50s where unions and employees held the upper hand in some Industries, not most, is foolishly thought of as a normal in the USA.

I want the severance but I'm not waiting forever. If they drag this on much longer it's not worth it. I'll say that if we still don't know our status by end of November i'm jumping ship. If they offer me a permanent position at Broadcom i'm still jumping ship.
Broadcom will try to let go most tenured people 12 months + 1 day after the close. Because CA severance policy is only in effect for 12 months after closing. After that Broadcom will only honor Broadcom time which would be 1 year. Good luck!
I believe that is the strategy. Have people just jump ship so BRCM has to pay less severance. I contemplated leaving early after 14 years with CA. Had a job offer in September but I'm not giving BRCM that out, they are going to pay me to leave. I've given CA 14 Years so if I'm gone BRCM is going to pay up. I would suggest getting a lawyer on retainer though, you never know the tricks that big corporations like this can pull during acquisitions.
