Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

No sales people needed?

Essendant doesn't need as many sales reps based on their model. If they are a wholesaler, then they would just be calling on smaller distributors. Do they do a lot of direct sales to end users? I looked at LinkedIn like you suggested and 8% of the Essendant employees have "sales" in their title versus 18.5% for Staples.

It’s all about the value each employee can bring. Outside reps are expensive, and if they do not produce significant revenue with closing larger accounts, then they will get rid of them very soon and replaced with cheaper inside reps.

This is the direction that Sycamore wants to go. Very small need for outside sales folks.
