Thread regarding ADP layoffs

Health Insurance when leaving ADP

I just left ADP. I got the COBRA information from WageWorks, and it looks like the last day of my insurance was my final day of my employment with ADP.

I thought that, when you leave a company, the health insurance expires on the last day of the month you leave the company. In fact, I thought that it was the law.

Has anyone here left ADP in the middle of a month, and found that their health insurance was discontinued the day that they left?

If you weren't enrolled in the CDHP while active an associate , you can not switch until open enrollment in 2019. This was not at all clearly stated.

Ok that all makes sense. I had the CDHP. But my other point was that this was all clearly documented in the package so not sure why some people are surprised. Makes me think people don’t know what they signed up for.

ADP is covering at zero cost only those enrolled in the Consumer Driven Health Plan.. if you were not enrolled in that while employed by ADP, you have to pay the rate for whatever option you did have, (so for Aetna / US Healthcare option 1 associate only its $226 a month). You can change to CDHP during open enrollment for 2019.. but you still have to pay the monthly fee until Jan. Not easy for folks with no paycheck coming in.

I took the ERP and I can tell you for certain you are covered with the health insurance for 2 years. The cost for single medical is Zero but dental and pr-scrip-ion is not free. Single coverage for dental and pr-scrip-ion is $38 and change per month. That’s all I’m paying for two years. Based on all these negative comments about the ERP im seeing here I’m starting to think these folks did not fully read the information in the package or they don’t undertstand what they signed up for.

I am not out of my mind.. take a look at the offering.. I am talking for associate coverage only.. "for continued medical" Aetna Choice POS II CDHP , monthly rate $0.00

Did you even get the offering? Or are you just making an assumption that ADP would not offer?

Regarding the poster who thought the health insurance was covered for two years after taking the early retirement, you are out of your mind.

All of these posts make no sense to me. I also accepted the ERP and everything was clearly documented. When I left in June and received the info from wage works everything was exactly as stated in the ERP documents. The cost was exactly as stated and it does cover you and your family but you can change that if you want. Maybe it’s a misunderstanding of what was being offered but I had no issues with anything I received it all matched up to what I read before I decided to accept the package.

Anytime an offer is made, the offer should be requested in writing, in full, before agreeing. How would you know the terms to agree to? I'm seeing a lot of ADPers getting screwed because they will not take responsibility to demand "in writing" agreements before accepting whether retirement or transitions to stay within ADP. No updated offer letters, no elimination of position or internal transfer documentation. Word of mouth persuasion has/is tricking many. Again it is the employees' responsibility to know and exercise their employee rights. Many dont believe they have ANY and must take the words of known unethical leadership all the time.

Unfortunate. But no one can be trusted when everyone is looking to protect their role however they can, even lying through their smiles and nods. Dont be afraid to pose the tough questions. Your livelihood, quality of life depends on it. Don't give blind trust to them. It will cost you.

i thought our medical was supposed to be covered by ADP for 2 years as part of the ERP ? For associate only, not family? It doesn't look that way on the mailing I just received.. that is also missing 2 pages.. :/

Took the ERP just received the info from wage works so much for benefit continuation of comparable prices. It is more than doubled the cost that I was paying. Also they are making you pay for the full month when a payment was taken from last paycheck not credited for that payment. ADP really is screwing the employees. This is not what they stated it would be. Will be looking at Obama care. Still glad I left ADP.

It has been many years since insurance continued to the end of the month in which you left a company. Most companies now stop benefits at midnight of your last day, as it saves them money. COBRA will eat up any severance you get.

Check with the actual insurance provider not ADP, after I left I did do the yearly check up, lab work and meds pr-scrip-ion annual refills and I was still covered, the only caution is if you are refilling MEDS through express scripts they will completely delete your account as of your last day, it has to do with them being the last to get paid, so use CVS or Walgreens for MEDS.

You are not the only one that voted for the take over. I agree with you on the benefits. Amazes me that all the articles ADP posts on linked in is so employee focused/flex schedule/teaching other companies how to do it right- when they do it all wrong.

I am just amazed how c-appy ADP's benefits were ... and this from a company who is all about Human Resources. Before I joined ADP, I took a good hard look at Glassdoor, and saw how many people were complaining about the benefits. So, I went into ADP with eyes wide open. But , during my tenure there, I was amazed about the pettiness of the company. Note that I was probably among the few ADP employees that actually voted for Ackman to take over.

My benefits ended at midnight on my last day. Also, you will want to check on that Cobra timeline, I was told you had to purchase a full month as I was trying to fill a small gap between leaving ADP and starting my new job. Cost is insanely high for cobra coverage.

You will only be billed for the part of the month that you are on Cobra, so yes, you will be given partial credit.

Thanks, all. I have to admit that this is the first company that I have left where the benefits ended on the day after I resigned rather than at the end of the month. I will go online to WageWorks and fill out the COBRA forms immediately. The only thing I hope is that the give me partial credit for the first week of October.

I left middle of a month and my benefits ended at midnight that day. Companies decide the benefit rules on when benefits are to start (new hires) and when to end (terminations) with the insurance companies.

Health insurance ends on the date of your termination. If you took the ERP once you enroll in COBRA and make your first payment they will backdate the COBRA to start on your termination date. So you still have insurance but you need to register and make a payment before its activated. If you have questions you should contact wage works. Hope this helps.
