Thread regarding CA Technologies (CA Inc.) layoffs

Note to GDL

On Yammer you asked an employee whether they were an expert on which departments would be cut by Broadcom.

Yes - many of us have had to become armchair experts on what departments Broadcom might cut because management disappeared four months ago. You have been very transparent but...

We’ve had to research on our own what Broadcoms business model was because the “Project Cobra” FAQ sheet was a series of outright lies.

We’ve had to extrapolate that model to CA to try and guess which products might get cut or sold. We’ve been fed years of b---s--- on DNA, Tensor, the app economy and the modern software factory.

We’ve had to speculate on what offices might close down because we have no idea what the go forward location strategy is.

So I’m sure you are frustrated and not to blame, but don’t snipe at employees providing more information than MikeyLikeyBikey.

GDL is great and patient. He has to put up with so many entitled questions while giving all the actual important information (that he is allowed to legally provide). He doesn't have to do or say ANYTHING but hes been answering stupid questions for 3 months about day care and free food and other bs perks that will go away (in addition to 80% of the company). Every other exec has disappeared since July and he is the only one making ANY effort. F the rest of the execs. GDL is not the cause of any of this stress (MG is since he was brought in the sell the company) and I wish that wherever I end up has an exec like him.

Islandia is a COE. A center of excrement.

Where's old GDL these days? Haven't seen much on Yammer, I guess he's gone radio silent too. Don't blame him because all the questions out there now there are no answers for, probably burned out! Well, here's my call based on information I have gotten from reliable sources, Islandia, Irvine and Plane on stay in place for the time being. What happens down the road is anyone's guess, but this is solid information.

"I’ve seen cases where offices where coined as “center of excellence”. The “shining North Star”."

Any company that designates Islandia a COE probably gets what it deserves in the end. Just saying...

Yep. I’ve seen cases where offices where coined as “center of excellence”. The “shining North Star”. Only to be closed less than a year later by the same GM. Anyone that is safe in November don’t be surprised in 2019. Broadcom financial engineers will come back giving every team a shorter hair cut

The OP is right on. I've been at CA for over a decade and if there's one thing I've learned, it is that there is a surefire way to tell when CA management is lying: their lips are moving.

I for one have a chuckle over the people who praise GDL for his transparency. Nothing against him personally, I actually think he's doing his best and his heart is in the right place. But he is not in charge of the acquisition... he is in charge of communicating. He can only share information he's been given and told to share. There is no transparency, there is "messaging".

If your boss tells you you're safe don't believe them. I've seen many "safe" teams at CA get shown the door.

If you're told your office will not be closing, don't believe it. I've seen many "important offices" with "no closure plans" get closed.

I'm not saying no one is safe or that every office will be closed. I'm saying do not trust CA management, not even a little bit.

Would be interesting if GDL stops updating. Nothing is forcing him to. Then we could have zero information. I wonder if the BoD or acquisition team of Broadcom is reading this board.

Damn right and I’ll add Mr. GDL:

This is worst managed acquisition I have ever witnessed, and I have seen a few. I have never seen an acquiring company not give details on benefits etc. Which means to me that they are dumping all or most of us.

I could care less that you are overworked and cannot wait for this to be over - boo hoo Guy. Destroying thousands of livelihoods and families is hard work isn’t it.

Never, ever has CA management outlined the benefits of this deal to CA customers or employees. Why? Because there are none. This is one of the most transparent cash outs by C level execs ever. The CA Board and all the managers who signed off on this should be ashamed. This is why employees and customers should be on corporate boards. There is more to life than short term share value.

Not everyone is reading your Yammer blog and saying, awww thanks Guy, most see if for the b---s--- it is.
