Thread regarding CA Technologies (CA Inc.) layoffs

Why do people do this to themselves?

When I read this board I think that everybody is well informed and aware of what's most likely going to happen to most of us very soon. But then at the office, I realize that majority of people I work with have not started looking for a new job, not even sending out feelers. They are convinced there is nothing to worry about, that they are safe.

I don't get that. How can people be so uninformed about their own futures? Or have their heads stuck in the sand so firmly?

@VE9PtYV-6qtk You're absolutely right, I'll immediately go study up on all of the world's currencies, their abbreviations and exchange rates. I hope afterwards I'll have enough of an "open mindset" to be able to post on this message board again.

I am expecting approx 15L as package if they fire me. So i don't want to leave unless they fire me. I will wait for big day and I'm expecting transition assignment of 6 months for me. That time period should be sufficient to find a new Job.

DON'T BE STUPID AND WAIT!!! The person who said "wait" has extreamly flawed thinking. See quote below. NOW is the time to get a job! Be transparent with your prospective new employer and they will likely accept you cannot start until after Nov15. I just did it... accepted the offer yesterday with a start date the Monday after Thanksgiving. If get severance GREAT! If not I quit! Either way I have a job waiting for me!!!!

Because a lot of CA employees are hacks at what they do. They will not be able to find a job that quickly nor will they be able to get paid as much as they did at CA. So many clueless f---s at that company.

Unfortunately they are trusting some of the early communications by management that things won’t be that bad and change is inevitable. It’s taken many of us weeks of research to put all the pieces together, that’s why some were asking about business class travel and day care, not realizing their jobs were going to be eliminated. Also a lot of folks have an unrealistic sense of their importance.

I’ve even found my management not to be fully in the know about what was going to happen. Heck half the company doesn’t even read GDL posts on Yammer.

November and December will be chaotic after the top 3-4 levels of management leave and those remaining will be led by a bunch of financial engineers, whose sole purpose will be to cut cost. Customers will be fuming and transition employees won’t give a sh--
