Brocade or any other Broadcom is a meaningless comparison, as there was overlap in business in those cases. Virtually none exists in CA, with the exception of some back office services. Even their accounting is different. I don't doubt Broadcom will hack people and sell off BUs, but I don't think it will be as quick or harsh as with Brocade. Plus, CA is already lean in many areas. People keep talking about "big cuts in MF R&D". From where? Many of the mainframe products really operate at close to 90% profit with R&D only accounting for 4-5% of costs-to-revenue. So not much more to cut. Many of the distributed BUs were being subsidized by the MF. They'll likely get whacked or spun off. Though distributed products are money makers and will likely stay.
