Thread regarding CA Technologies (CA Inc.) layoffs

Transition - Purgatory or Hell?

Transition might seem good to some, the more I think about it the worse it seems to be

  • even though the severance and transition are “guaranteed”, you canned let go at any point during the period. It will be hard to time a job search

  • you’ll be working at a dying company where a quarter of the company was just fired and another 50 percent won’t give a sh--

  • you will probably be treated as a second class citizen by Broadcom and those staying full time

Any other thoughts?

What is everyone talking about??? Forget about Broadcom, CA is where careers go to die... Im already in Purgatory. Though on the other hand I have a very good work-life balance. I put in my 40, go home. Zero extra efforts, just do my job, leave. They promote me, get me refresh rsu. Seriously Sometimes I feel the less I do the more management loves me. Seriously what do I have to do around here to get a package?!?!?

Transition will be blessing. It gives more money and time to find better career with actual growing company that cares about its employees.

Transition is a golden ticket. Like you said, severance and transition bonus are guaranteed unless you are fired for cause. Do enough to not get fired for cause. In the meantime, you are being handsomely rewarded for a job search in which it is easy to reject offers that are less than perfect. And assuming you have good relationships with your former colleagues, your professional network has just expanded to all the companies they get hired into. Ride that pony!
