Thread regarding CA Technologies (CA Inc.) layoffs

All lies by ITC head

All he told was everything is usual, no job cuts except few departments like GIS, and HR.

Don't worry everything is the same, whereas we all know there will be bloodbath on Nov 5.

We thought leaders are role models, but he is no leader, he is just a corporate guy willing to lie to such an extent.

Don worry about service management. It will be divested or shutdown soon. So he won't play around with your teams.

@VCUnBVy-bqt

Is Voh Tan really the head of transition for ITC? Did he say that in his talk?

The reason I'm asking is if it is then it is bad news for established CA folks. He has a history of moving pieces/people/positions around. I heard he has already done that in few teams like Tech Writing and UX and MF. He will replace with his Microsoft folks, it's fine if it is to improve a team but he has replaced with some of his own cronies. This is bad news for us in Service Management!

@VCUnBVy-1mur Wrong. Most money is made from contract on product (especially MF software) that have been in maintenance mode for many a decade. Guess where the team who support those products are located? Not in US location! There is nothing in US location that will generate as much income even when you factor in how low cost ITC/PTC are.

Those in NA couldn't care less about ITC and PTC. The biggest money maker products come out of NA. ITC and PTC only get maintenance mode products and distributed products that go to die. Santa Clara is the only waste of money R&D office in NA.

@VCUnBVy-1crc The way I see it, as long as products are coming to PTC and ITC than that is only good a news. Again, surely there will be cuts in certain department but it is not like the entire office will be closed down even if things get outsourced to Wipro in part. I could care less about US locations and neither should you.

No is is safe but mainframe engineering will see fewest cuts because mainframe actually makes money for CA. Mainframe in NA will eventually go to PTC because PTC mainframe is growing. ITC will not have mainframe they will transfer mainframe to PTC. ITC will get nondivested distributed from NA and PTC and then that work will go to Wipro. Lookout for management talking about knowledge transfers. It will be bloodbath.

@VCUnBVy-1bon I don't get your anger. ITC is safe, PTC is safe, US is not safe. Who cares about details when you will still have a job and they won't. Its not our problem!

By the way: I assuming you are not one of those who turned and left on Visa to US, in which case I give you no sympathy if you get cut.

@VCUnBVy-jcm well i find it shameless or ignorance thinking outperform where it is no where close. you might be a noob who just joined or either have a peanut of a brain.

Please don't divert discussion towards ITC vs PTC vs NA.. Its not correct. My product teams are there in US, Prague, India and all are working well and doing their bit to move it forward. That "overweight" comment is meaningless and lets stop that discussion.

Stay focused on any new information that will impact all our future in coming few days and share that

Stop fighting like cats and dogs. We are employees of the same organisation, and the situation is difficult for each one of us and our families irrespective of our geo locations.

@VCUnBVy-nng I find a funny considering most of the work is in fact done in ITC & PTC. If you pay any attention to the quarterly meetings you will see that only the US locations are the ones that are the underperformers. It is only rightful that they are cut instead of us.

@VCUnBVy-weq Only the overweight americans , that shows the fear. You are not fit to work any where. 70% of ITC is not working , always cut the dead weight which is hard to move/grow a company further.

He's not wrong. Most of the cuts will be in North America, and a few select departments in ITC where there will be redundancies after the acquisition is complete. I'm really not understanding why all this panic is coming from. Only the overweight americans have to worry, ITC, PTC, etc are going to be just fine.

People took Ask Voh Tan too seriously and asked questions but most of them were silly questions and even then he was all over the place.

What other functions are you referring to, other than the ones you listed above?

All this does is let managers play dirty politics. This will slowly become any other services organization were you need to boot-lick to safeguard your job.

The product teams will be hardly touched in ITC. Mostly managers could use it to exit employees they did not want to a large extent or people who showed their intent to go. So less than 5% in the R&D teams. Yes for GIS, FInance, HR and other functions - it would be a blood bath

Are you referring to the meeting he had with the tools team. I heard from on of my colleagues that engineering will not be touched or at most they will be transitioning for 6-9 months.

Do you think it's true?

My guess it's gonna be a red day
