Thread regarding VeriFone layoffs

My guess is that 25% of the Rocklin and San Jose office will go

I have a feeling FP is not done yet. They will likely do further cuts after the last group, Dec 31st, have transitioned out. And because these second cuts will be less than the numbers set by CA, they won't have to do notifications with CA and the severance won't be as nice.

My guess is that 25% of the Rocklin and San Jose office will go. There will be a skeleton crew left behind to support the most essential tasks. There's a lot of functions where 3-4 employees are left after the initial cut. These groups will likely be eliminated. You know who you are.

@VBY8fuQ-5bxu, you need to be educated. California has the WARN report. An employer has to notify the state if laying off a large number of employees. Verifone did this for 9/19.

What are you talking about??? The company isn't public anymore... The rules of reporting the percentage of employees let go do not apply. FP is all mighty and does not have to report to anyone.

FP's approach is to save a lot of money on salaries of people who are out and they know they will lose some customers. But as long as business is profitable they will cash money to pay their debt back.

FP already starts to realize their approach was maybe a bit radical in some places and is adapting as they can. So firing more people would make no sense eventually as there is already a bullet in their foot.

They want to push the HW outside and outsource it. And focus on the SW obviously. So San Jose is already dead and makes no sense financially for the surface used by so few people. Rocklin will most likely shrink too in view of recent workforce reduction.
