I know all of us, who got hit by layoffs look at that as a big personal failure and a turn for the worse. Of course, that situation generates feelings of fear, despair, anger, or disbelief, but when the feelings settle and you get to see a more clear picture of the situation you will conclude that, indeed, there is a big silver lining to all of this.The only things that the companies can’t take away from you are your skills and your work ethics. Many of us get to see a brighter and better world that exists outside our former company that is full of many possibilities that we couldn’t have pursued if we stayed at our old workplace. Getting fired is not the end, it’s a new beginning, So, it’s maybe time to examine the possibility of living closer to family, or even taking an interest in a whole new career

Well said. I am hurt right now as the wound is fresh but I have some time to figure things out and after a day or two to lick my wounds, I hope to find a brighter future without so much gloom and doom around me all the time. The last many years with TR and now the short week and a half as Refinitiv has been holding my breath and wondering if my number would come up during this reorg. It finally did today.
