Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Reliable sources confirm

That Schenectady will be the sole power generator building facility. Managers and up know that GE in Schenectady can walk all over the union and plan on bringing all the work after the 2019 contract negotiations. GE has so much work they are misleading the workers. GE’s management staff and sales department confirmed this that Schenectady will become the home of this business and pack as much as they can in the plant and campus.

For all intents and purposes, the 301 is a Company Union. It doesn't bother GE at all that you are unionized, because they ultimately control it.

I heard that after Florence flattens Greenville, the insurance company will build a whole new facility for GE and cover most of the bill. It should take a little over a year so they need a bunch of chumps to do all the work during that time.

First of all schenectady is far from being the site with the most layoffs. Sites in Europe hold that honor. The company actually loves the union here because they do whatever the company and keep the membership in line with whatever Ge wants to do. And as far as pay now it’s not much different then it is in Greenville now with the new pay scale. Schenectady is also the largest manufacturing facility that ge owns. Also Greenville is the more exspensive of the two sites to run. According to every chart I’ve seen on this matter. And now after the recent agreement with the union the vp of global supply chain is making a concerted effort for Schenectady with becoming the center of power in the us. The layoffs are the plant managers way of saying hey look at we can do with less people and cheaper and better build quality then almost every other plant ....including Greenville. So you can sit there and deny it all you want. Fact is Greenville has no turbines to build yet for next year. Schenectady has at least half of all generator orders and steam turbine jobs for the company. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure this problem out.

Wait until the hurricane reaks it’s damage before being so sure one way or the other.

Schenectady vs Greenville is now in Florence’s hands. Especially since it appears Wilmington will also be hit hard and then Greenville with enough “Pin Action” to go around.

So the site that has the most layoffs is going to become the center of power, make complete sense lol. Did anyone not watch the strategy videos about the 26 week Gas Turbine. It is all centered around Greenville. There is no way they would give up all that progress and more to Schenectady.

@SNH that’s what they said at the battery plant too! More work is coming and look what happened the last time the same plant manager took over. More work maybe as in box up everything and now your laid off and then Ge ships it overseas.

If this is true then it only proves that all of us d and t rates are gullible id--ts that can be easily mislead, made to do anything and have been getting played all along. No wonder people pity me when I tell them I work at the Schenectady campus. Not even the unemployed are envious of us anymore!

I haven’t heard schenectady will be the only manufacturing facility in the world but I have heard more work is coming here and more things we don’t do now. But they won’t say what that work is.
