Thread regarding Cogswell Polytechnical College layoffs

And so it begins...

This week, the CFO (former interim CEO), Director of Admissions And Asst Director of Admissions we’re dismissed. Enrollments missed by almost 50%. Morale is down and more layoffs to come. The returning students notice the unfortunate change in Cogswell spirit.

CEO Restivo is the worst decision ever. He brings nothing to the organization

Some of the layoffs were much needed. Old-school thinking had to be removed from the college, which had been holding back its growth and living up to its spirit of innovation. Not everyone can see this, but many students and most faculty do.

Cogswell might have lost some of its quirky character when it moved to North San Jose, but it’s still full of amazing minds (faculty), history, and an industry-focus curricular structure that beats most private universities and state schools. What seriously lacks is a strong investment from the owners or from an outside investor/partner. Brad Palmer, please realize this and invite a partner investor to share the risk and also the opportunity to evolve Silicon Valley’s only true innovating college into a nationwide phenomenon.

Even with the recent coronavirus-forced changes in academics, it’s still preparing for a strong future. Hopefully the administration will seize the opportunity to take advantage of the uniqueness and industry-leading practical quality education and skill development that students receive at this institution. If well managed, Cogswell could become into THE place to study for everyone intending to get into the game, audio and animation production fields. It just needs some love.

Now that DeVry is affiliated, it will become even more toxic.

unfortunately Cogswell has changed, I don’t think is a good change. You can just tell that no one is happy here, the employee turnover is to the roof. Employees don’t even care to give 2 week notice anymore, that’s how you know we have bad administration (CEO).

What happened to the piano? Man, this new CEO Charles Restivo is killing the good spirit. My son will be finishing his fall semester there, and we for sure will not be back for the spring. I encourage everybody to check the chronicle, this is written by students.
