Thread regarding Viacom Inc. layoffs

This needed to be said!

Man, stop telling people to ignore the negativity, it's pretty hard to ignore the negativity when my department has gotten CRUSHED in the last two rounds of layoffs. Great benefits and great bonus (and that is not a guarantee) mean nothing if you're waiting for the ax to fall all the time and if you're now doing the job of 3 people like I am. I am hoping to make it through the next round of cuts and hold on long enough for a bonus but that's it. I am working nights and weekends so all those PTO days that are supposed to be part of the "GREAT BENEFITS", I can't even take.

There's a post on this board somewhere that was a "new guy" who had 3 offers, took one at Viacom and got laid off 6 months later now that's keeping new folks down. You definitely should not come here if it upsets you, new or long time employee.

I agree, that poster is clearly PR. If Viacom is really concerned with saving the maximum amount of money why not get rid of the tons of overpaid middle managers that are glorified email brokers? Good, hard working people lower on the totem pole will be thrown to the wind way before them.

If your severance package is not worth it, get out while you can. This company stinks.

Lol @ the person that said Viacom needs to get rid of the disgruntled people. That is probably the department heads that I used to work for, and she is a hot mess with many issues. Everyone please jump ship while you can. I jump ship about a month ago and it was the best thing that I did for myself. My new company is great and they actually value their employees. Viacom is probably going to Be no more in the United States

So I’m not the one who created this thread, but the person who made the post below mine is in their own bubble. Nobody on this board is “keeping the new people down” - YOU are by coming on here. Plus if this board makes you upset, then you always have the option of not coming on to this site...

Also, layoffs are not “a part of doing business” nor are they “necessary”. If we were currently merging with another company I would consider that slightly true. Look at other company’s board on here- Viacom’s board is the most active out of a lot of them. We are not doing well financially.

you don't want to hear the truth. Layoffs are part of doing business. They are necessary . Do keep your head down , because you can't do nothing about it. accept it and Move on. Stop Crying on this board. Im new relatively here and you keep me and the new people down . Viacom needs to get rid of these disgluntled people . Its all these old people here that think VIACOM ows them something for all their OLD efforts.

your efforts are part of the past and everything is changing around you. Because you are so concerned you must be worried and most likely will be laid off...

Viacom has GREAT benefits , The best life insurance i have ever HAD, The best perks i have ever HAD.

Viacom is re-inventing itself .....VIACOM PLEASE ELIMINATE THESE DISGRUNTLED PEOPLE !!!

ungrateful people....GET RID OF THEM .

to the new people ...give it all you GOT , don't listen to this board..NEW people will not get LAID-OFF !!

Agreed, I don't need anyone telling me to give 110% or to just ignore this board and keep my head down, that won't change the reality that the layoffs are coming again. I also don't want to hear that layoffs are just part of business "unfortunately", they really aren't with a well run company. I have never worked any place with such a frequent "reorg" schedule.
