Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Future of SBA

Anybody have some good information for the future of SBA mid market, especially in regards to the outside sales force? My opinion is that by 2019, they are going to drastically cut the dead weight, and only keep a small amount of us to work with larger companies that have larger potential spend. There simply is not enough large targets that would be worth it to keep everybody.

"Have you been watching the presentations and updates on the Staples 2.0 GTM strategy? A huge part of the transition is reducing the size of the outside sales force as inside teams can reach more people than outside reps. The game plan is to increase the volume of customer contact and save an outside presence for the most complex customers who need to have a visible rep presence"

Right on the mark! That is EXACTLY what is happening.

@V1NsHLF-5mdl Care to back up that claim? Where are you getting this speculative big outside sales collapse from?

The future is bright for inside sales and incomes of 35k per year.

Get out of Staples. I went to a new company in April and it is great. Every treats everyone with RESPECT. Unlike the management at Staples. (Most in-competent out of all the company's I worked for in 40 years). It is nice not hearing about layoffs or worrying about them. Even when there are issues... there is no blame and finger pointing, it's let's get it fixed and move on.

Staples is not a good place to work anymore.......IT S---S

The prototype team in the mountain west region has show that they can get rid of numerous SALS and AE and replace them with lower paying inside consultants. Cheap and inside is the wave of the future.

This post is right on the mark. They will and have cut many SBA positions. What I find interesting is the high school looking folks they have brought in. Pay them much less and work them more.
