So much hate here. If you hate the company so much, why don't you simply leave? I'm sure we'll do just fine without you.

Hiring friends from Cisco was the norm when JD, MaM, JB, SL, DJW, WC etc stroked each other and tried to build their house of cards until RR decided JD was not going to take his job, and that little fiefedom collapsed. That group of ex Cisco PLMs and Marketiing crackheads were definitely not A players and operated with sub par talent. Sadly, some of these c---roaches have still survived. They are a toxic bunch, and the remaining goons will get wiped soon.
All the Cisco deadwood is now working at juniper in management. Look around. Many in building b floor 4. They have all recruited their Cisco deadwood friends and look at the juniper financial results: deadwood
@V03n2NL-2yts: I left Juniper Westford in 2016. I know of 2 rounds of layoffs in 2017. Not sure if any layoffs in 2018 in Westford. I know 1 manager got canned in 2017. However, I do see mostly individual contributors are getting cut. Also, there was lots of shuffling in 2017, I think the purpose of this was to make sure every manager has a decent number of folks reporting to them. Seriously, Westford is a real mess. 1 layer of mgmt absolutely has to go. BRAS which is a big revenue source for Juniper is from Westford and is an easy sell (since it is legacy tech and no newcomers will enter this market). This is probably the reason why managers can afford to fool around. I really think good engineers from Westford should just join Arista in Nashua and get out of that Westford hell. Managers from Westford have no entry in companies like Arista since Arista only hires folks who can code.
The problem with so many layoffs is the the GOOD people who don't get fired get rallied up and leave for greener pastures. So the company is left in a worse situation. Case in point, I know someone who's leaving and he's a superstar. A true loss in morale for his group will occur.
But folks, seriously, have you looked what FANGS and equivalent start-ups are paying these days. The days of Juniper being a good payer are over when you start comparing Total Comp with FANGS. It's peanuts compared to FANGs. No joke!
an update for mr ex-wfd. Since you left we have canned more productive engineers and kept all the mgrs. If we do not keep the mgrs around how would directors/vps justify their positions ? qed
YES PLEASE. Chop off the dead wood like Cisco did.
Shareholders would like to see that move. Directors should be people still able to write code/fix bugs and lead by Example.
If Juniper needs trimming, I seriously think management layers need to collapse. I used to work in Westford and over there we have 1 manager for around 5-6 engineers. For every 2 managers, we have a director. So, for 10-12 engineers we have 3 folks in mgmt (2 managers + 1 director). Most of these managers just play games to justify their position in the company. They serve no purpose other than putting roadblocks in front of good engineers. I think for 10-12 engineers, 1 manager should suffice, so in the above example, 2 folks from management need to be shown the door.
These managers are unemployable in the industry and will never leave on their own. Most folks are incapable of writing even a simple "Hello World" program in a language of their choice. The way interviews take place these days in tech companies, there is no way for such incompetent folks to clear the interviews.
Haters or no haters, we need a bit trimming to optimize EPS.
If you think its positive why did you come looking at this page?
This is a forum where employees talk about layoffs, I don't think that would ever be positive.
Why would anyone hate a company, obvious reasons they are killing employees peace.
Struggling every single day, tensed and politics to cover yourself. Thats not how people learn and grow in career.
Btw yes we simply left....
You need to get another job, only then you can leave. It is not easy to crack tech interviews these days.
