Beth Comstock is a clown that proposed crazy ideas with dumb arguments. And paid more than 10M$ last year. It’s the board and Immelt fault. She planted the GED seed, but was clueless on how to execute such a complex initiative. Recruited a bunch of Silicon Valley developers that are like headless chickens running around, the usual CAS mafia that only protects themselves and constant conflicts with the Product Companies.

Don’t forget Beth Comstocks part in all this, “ let’s be like Plato alto ‘ plan that went straight to looking like it office building wise and young staff wise with not the focus needed on the value to the customer. Let’s all take a moment to give thanks to the real architect here.. Beth Comstock..

Bill Ruh a relevant leader? Uh....nope! He is still here for damage control to clean up the mess he made. Besides, what leader in their right mind would take a job to lead GE Digital? Many of Bill’s leaders have left GE seeing the writing on the wall. Even Fowler abandoned him. Ruh is the only one left. Ruh is bad luck Schleprock.

@1dog -- New Healthcare CEO replaced Flannery, so that had to happen by default. Otherwise, your list reflects changes (both forced exits and pre-emptive escapes) under Flannery.

Regardless, your main point is valid. I couldn't figure out why IMMELT kept Ruh so long! It's inexplicable to me, and many others, why Flannery didn't remove him right away.

Sorry BR. You are considered a public figure under the law. Research it.

Since Flannery arrived, we saw changes in Healthcare CEO, Power CEO, CFO, CHRO, CIO, 3 of the 4 Vice Chairmen were invited to leave the company... he is not shy to make changes. But Bill Ruh is still a relevant leader in GE. Any explanation?

Sounds like Bill Ruh himself is posting here. There is no use for TECHNICAL STRATEGY if you don't have an EXECUTION STRATEGY. Bill, if you are out there, Mr Immelt still has an 'opening' that needs to be 'filled'.....

Speaking as an industry analyst, GED could have had a huge success with Predix. The right VISION was there (IoT data analytics), the huge SALES BASE was there (power, healthcare, aerospace)...

But the EXECUTION (actual hardware/software) was a complete JOKE. Other companies (PTC, Microsoft) have been able to execute and reap the rewards.

Instead of working with us, their engineers, and their customers, GED execs continued to spout canned platitudes and would cut off communication if we questioned anything or dug too deep.

The GED execs never really cared about creating a useful and competent product. They were always driven by fear and greed, preserving their own spot in a dying organization while looking for exit options.

As long as Immelt could point to blatantly ridiculous growth prospects in 10Qs and 10Ks ($5B in "digital revenues" projected to grow to $20B by 2020 and make GE a top 10 software company, lmao) GED never had to actually deliver.

I'm sure 95% of the org, all the way down to the lowest SW devs could see this coming. For those still in and looking around, check out opportunities in automotive - the sector is exploding.

Bill Ruh is a brilliant man whose vision was thwarted by the useless minions who tried to make it a reality. Bill saw a future for GE that only the gifted could also envision. He will be tainted by your failures.

Let’s not forget that Jaime Miller was the acting CIO (chief id--t officer) that drank Immelt’s koolaid in forming GE Digital. She helped appoint the majority of the nitwits who ran GED into the ground. Why Miller and Ruh are still around is as perplexing as why Immelt was allowed to stay for so long. It’s almost like the GE brass are unable or blind to spot incompetence. Welch would have dumped these failures fast and furious.

Wasn’t a fair shake to include IT risk in this CTR / Digital mess. Collateral damage one could suppose.

It sickens me to think of the amount of cash that went from GE Capital divestitures to GE Digital. Fowler spent other people's money like a drunken sailor with nothing to show for it. Then, he looked to other businesses to cut expenses and bail him out because he couldn't meet his targets. Classic!

I was talking to a program kid this morning. They are so out of touch with reality that they think they are entitled to a senior leadership role just by graduating from the program. My biggest pet peeve is that their leadership pitch is so scripted, that honestly, you cannot differentiate person A from person B, except for their names. So much for original thinking & authenticity!

I was in a customer meeting in May where a GEP exec started talking about how digital was going to add margin to their power plant...the customer stated they can do it all themselves, with less expensive and GE-hassle. Excused himself from the meeting and later asked the Sales exec to never invite GED folks to the table again. Ouch
