I signed a doc that I would keep getting paid until my severance is paid...looks like half a check posted today....hmm must be some fine print because I haven't received the 1 week for each year pay out yet.

I was laid off a couple of years ago and had over 12 years with the company. My severance was 10 weeks! I contacted a lawyer and he almost took my case. SAVE EVERYTHING on your computer just in case you decide to sue. I had proof of harassment from my program coordinator and was not able to get the proof from my email. I had surgery and while I was recovering from surgery when they laid me off! I feel bad for everyone now, who will not be getting their hard-earned severance. At the time I didn’t feel lucky for being laid off, but now with everything going on, I am SO HAPPY, the laid me off when they did. I HATE EDMC, and THE ART INSTITUES and wish nothing but ill-will for those at the top!
It's not a payout. If you are getting a severance, it's a combined total upto 8 weeks between working notice and severance. It's pd after you sign. It's paid like usual paycheck but taxed much higher. Not pd in lump sum. For those not getting severance it's usually a working notice, meaning they are getting pd For working knowing they are losing their job. In WARN states some ar getting pd but are not required to report to work, they are keeping benefits through last day, no severance is being pd after the notice date. In Chicago they are getting paid til 9/11, but stopped working 7/2. No severance after 9/11.

They figure by the time you get around to filing a complaint you will just let it go or they will file bankruptcy -- crooks -- business as usual - they just ignore you and crap all over you - so sorry
