Thread regarding GE Digital layoffs

It's going to be a "we're going out of business" sale.

Might have been buyers at some time in the past, but anyone doing due diligence would see that GED needed a few failures to help it cook down to the right price. Even JVs should see through the crap that Predix turned out to be. Just take a look at what’s making money for Digital in its portfolio. It won’t be Predix as the target for JVs.

Totally agree, there were no buyers. Now they are probably looking for co-investors to form some JV and push most back into the BU's. Or shut it down!

GE Digital is a disaster because it didn’t deliver what it was supposed to. Period. You can’t hire a bunch of Silicon Valley developers hoping that some magic would happen. True, the leaders should take the majority of the blame. However, Predix was developed by developers. It is a terrible development environment.

An example of revisionist history. The assets were undoubtedly for sale. There were no buyers. Now retrench and pretend like it never happened. This better work because there is no “Plan E”.

Sunk Cost Fallacy. It’s hard to admit and see it evaporate when you’ve put years of your life into a place. It’s hard not to take this personally even though the failure was caused by greedy incompetent leaders. If the company can’t do well when the economy has been booming what should that tell us all?

They are talking out of both sides of their mouths. Please stay long enough so we can sell all the assets and then we’ll fire you. Just keep your heads down while we pull the wool over your eyes
