Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

Sabre Layoffs that happened on July 31, 2017

Sabre announced their 2Q earnings today.....a year ago, this was the day, they laid off 900 people......I am sure many found jobs and moved on.....can someone who was affected who is doing great now post your experience of how you overcome this hardship?

I got fired during that time. Just 2 weeks before my doughter was born. First couple of days i felt a little frustrated, but i always kept my positive attitude. I started looking and got a job just 4 days after sabre fired me.

Berter job, better location, better work environment.

I thought that was not possible, but it is!

I was affected. I’m currently on contract at AA and hoping to find something permanent in the next year or two here or elsewhere. Keeping my eyes open. A good friend of mine just found a job starting in a couple weeks so it took him almost a year but he wasn’t willing to do contract jobs.

I was affected... it was traumatic at first, but here I am a year later with a better job and a better company. There is a great life beyond Sabre. What got me to the good place I am now is:

  1. Kept good relationships with former Sabre people

  2. Networked

  3. Stayed positive

  4. Used available resources to sharpen my interview skills and resume - all at no cost

  5. Made every day count in my job search

At the end of the day, I had 3 different job offers to choose from... LESSON LEARNED: Just because Sabre didn’t find me valuable enough to keep, there were sveral other companies that wanted me. DON’t UNDER ESTIMATE YOURSELF AND WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE. :)
