Severance Info Fedex

Sooo am I the only one who received their severance information via FedEx this morning? It also included a document that had all closing campuses listed, positions eliminated and kept, and ages of persons that held those positions. Why was this sent? And how is this legal? I now know the age of everyone.

It is not illegal to disclose ages or salaries as long as they are aggregated and no employee is named. In fact, it is legal to list salaries by name and I do not think age is protected information in any case.

But we never actually got 501(c)(3) status. We applied, but it wasn't granted yet.

Do 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Corporations Have to Make their Financial Statements Available to the Public?

Yes. Nonprofit corporations must submit their financial statements, which include the salaries of directors, officers and key employees to the IRS on Form 990 as mentioned above.

Both the IRS and the nonprofit corporation are required to disclose the information they provide on Form 990 to the public.

This means that nonprofits must make their records available for public inspection during regular business hours at their principal office.

In addition, a number of websites make these financial statements available including GuideStar and the Foundation Center. Finally, you can request a Form 990 from a specific nonprofit corporation by writing to the IRS, including the name of the organization and the tax year you wish to review:

It's non -profit - and public -- they have to disclose salaries legally -

Severance laws differ depending on what state you live in. If you aren't getting any, your state labor laws must not require it. They wouldn't give it to anybody if they didn't have to.

I call BS on that. It is ILLEGAL to disclose that information to other employees.

They should list salaries. There is serious inequality there.

You get the ages and positions because that is part of a defense against claims of age discrimination. It does not help you, just them.

Is there any rhyme or reason to severance? Why are some campuses getting it and others not? Some employees getting it and others not. So awful since everyone worked for the same company-why treat some better than others.

Im curious, or is it furious, that for some reason a lot of folks are getting severances but I have been there over a decade and will get NO severance. How is that fair?
