Everyone wants to blame its leaders. And rightfully so as they should have acted quicker in fixing the problems. But delivery of the products lies with the thousands hired to develop them. You developers developed lame products that didn’t generate enough revenue. That’s why you failed. The Predix development environment is one of the worst I have ever seen. I have been with GE nearly two decades and am embarrassed at what has happened at GE Digital. Don’t even get me started about CoreTech! Overpriced and the good talent has left the building. Drain the swamp.

You guys are all wrong. GE is committed to digital. When it is done selling everything it will be fully digital.

Siemens announced today a new corporate organization, with Digital as autonomous company. And an $0.6B acquisition. Was GE too early?

WSJ must be pretty close to the mark, given the amount of emails from higher ups in GED imploring focus and maintaining performance and market perception of GED as a leader in IIoT. Looks like everyone is working to their packages.

“The O&G vertical proved you can sell Digital at scale. What have they done differently than other verticals?“

Seriously???? Selling one custom project after another - with no hope of ever executing on it is not the definition of selling digital at scale. Has the Rosneft project been delivered? It never will be...

3 years and 4 billions too late.

I agree the vision of IoT was great, but the entire division was incompetent. BRuh is simply a crook who laughed his a-- off, while gutting the company. Immelt was just dumb and ignorant, but he is responsible as he allowed that to happen.

If they invested a fraction of the money to the divisions and let them develop, GE would have all that connected devices implemented and be making profit. The fact that Flannery let it go on for almost a year ... either he has no clue, or he gave up. Like a cancer patient, with 9 months to live - instead of chemo, he chose 9 months of partying.

@Up3cGiu-1hqm, while you are right in that JRI had the correct vision for the company, you are giving JRI a free pass on execution. As a leader, he should have BR accountable, while he was scamming GE like there was no tomorrow. One of the key responsibilities of a leader is to hire the right person for the right job. BR was NOT the right person, from the get go, and was not never ever held accountable, for all the fabrications and lies and illegalities he carried out right under the nose of JRI. He and the HR head JW are like Mafia ring leaders. Digital was a great opportunity royally flushed down the toilet.

It's a priority but we are cutting the budget says the CEO. I am so happy that I didn't go to work there. I pegged it as a collapsing house of cards during the interview and told them what I thought afterwards.

"The news is not a complete surprise. In April, GE CEO John Flannery said that digital was still a priority, but he slashed GE Digital’s budget and let go of many staff members."

I'm certainly in the minority for this thought - but I don't think GE's issues should be put on Immelt. He had a vision...and it was the right vision. The problem was Digital leadership's failure to understand and execute. All Ruh and company has done is lie, cheat and steal from the company as well as the employees. And face facts, it may have been a 'house of cards' but it was still standing until Flan man came into the picture. Just like any new CEO, he's going to declare a disaster and be the white knight to fix everything. Well..he isn't a visionary. He's a churn and burn guy. No vision, no creativity..only slash and burn. Build cash reserves by selling assets. Digital should go...in fact it should die a miserable death. But lay the blame where it deserves to be! BTW .. can't wait to see all you dumb--ses that stayed in the unemployment line!

I worked in Digital last 2 years. I hold impatient, arrogant and overly aggressive executives responsible for its failure. It's also frankly been a tough place to work and I am sad all my team effort is rewarded with this insult. I think GE would be lucky if anyone paid them more than $10 million for Predix.

FUD

Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt rule. And all Bill Ruh can do is fire off emails that say stay focused on winning in the marketplace and we can’t tell you anything until it’s done. Anyone with an ounce of brains and experience reads this as keep up performance so I can get the maximum payout. It’s a guarantee that when GED is auctioned off, Bill will leave to pursue other opportunities or spend more time with his family. Employees should make their own decisions whether to ride the plane down until the end or bail out. But no tears shed for Bill.

What ever will GE do without the massive losses from GE Digital? Embarrassing and utterly transparent that profit and losses were never published for Digital and only revenue was ever touted (which of course was flat, and artificial from internal purchasing).
