Thread regarding Dream Center Education Holdings, LLC (DCEH) layoffs

-rxmb they have tools like turnitin in the Brightspace classroom. There’s never been a thorough way to verify a student is submitting original work. If a student is devious enough to Cheat and lie about it, they fit right in with DCEH and DCF and may be guaranteed a position with them.

Does anyone know how they plan to oversee Online regarding verifications of that online student actually doing their own work & not using one of the many companies that are paid to do your work or class? Credible colleges use skype, iris scan etc for verification legitimacy. Any thoughts?

Let’s be fair about comparing graduation rates. Most graduation rates are based on first time degree seekers and few students at the ground campuses of South University start there first. Usually, they come there after failing elsewhere and due to the efforts of some hard working faculty they can succeed. The DCEH decision to move all general education courses online will devastate campus programs, especially medical ones.

This letter was sent to the faculty of one of the higher performing SU campuses. This should be a wake up call for those people still employed. There will be many layoffs at every campus. From my estimates at least 20 people at that campus will be out of a job.

Shame on the person who posted this for including the name of the messenger! Shows your character fits right in with the organization on a whole! Posting just the message like everyone else would have been sufficient.

Most of these can be taken at a local community college for 1/4 of the amount you would pay here. What dumb--s is going to register for any of these??

Are the online classes at South U as academically impoverished as AiO’s and AU’s?

The best description of AiO and AUO are virtual correspondence courses with videos. Instructors spend all of their time trying to explain the poorly written assignments. Lots of money and time have been spent revising online courses but the only things that have changed are the format and videos. The assignments are word for word identical to the old classes from over a decade ago, but now they have steps to help explain the poorly written assignments. No one working on the classes understands what they are doing, they need to read Tyler to get the rudimental basics of what a curriculum is meant to do and how to do it. The new class format is probably based on someone’s dissertation from AU. We all know how pathetic those are.

Online instructors do not teach, they simply babysit students, review assignments, make suggestions that students ignore, give positive feedback and make personalized videos to keep the students engaged, call students MIA or with a C- or less to give them a pep talk and make sure they finish the class, and fill out grades, C or better if you want to keep your job.

Academically impoverished. That sums it up good.

No reason left to respect SAC (SU & Ai Miami), Middle States (AiP/AiO) and WA (AU). Colleges and universities need to start a protest against these accreditation groups until for profit and nonprofit are no longer eligible. DOE needs to do the same.

Is SU accredited? If so maybe AiO students will be transferred to SU or AU to complete general education courses and an AA. Those might actually transfer to a reputable college where they can finish a design BS.
