Thread regarding McDermott International Inc. layoffs

Relocation

How likely are pay cuts to cbi people? If I move is there any reason to think I'm not going to get screwed with a pay cut or job cut? A lot can happen in 2 years. Who would have thought we'd be here 2 years ago?

Not only will they cut your pay and benefits but then when they lay you off any severance is based upon your "current" rate so they actually save money.

The company does not care about you, they are to focused on profits and not on the business. Why put your life in their hands? They will use you when they need you, then dump you. We all have choices, make the right one.

Ya. Not moving for this company or this job. It is just the half step to my next job for a company that treats its employees like human beings with families. If I have to give the money back then I am no worse off.

I'm doing the Re-location package for several reasons. Upgrade to a little bit bigger home, move closer to my parents, and also be a little more centrally located in case I get the ax and have to take a job in Houston somewhere. It's not all bad.

I too an taking advantage of the relocation package to move closer in to a McDermott

facility. I'm thinking along the same lines as you. According to the agreement, If you do the

relocation package and then later on leave the company, you have to pay back all company

reimbursed expenses including the 6% you get on the sale of your home.

My question is, what if you get laid off? Do you still have to pay it back within the 24 months?

A layoff is not a voluntary termination.

Pay cuts?? Oh Lord, I don't make enough as it is.
