Thread regarding FTD layoffs

This was not a fun weekend

Between mourning all the people we lost last week to layoffs (some of our best workers were among them) and fearing we'll be blindsided with more layoffs this week, this was one of the worst weekends I had in a while.

Even now I'm up in the middle of the night, unable to sleep. I used to love working here, but this is no longer the company it once was.

Do you think we'll ever be able to go back to time when worrying about having a job tomorrow was not a regular part of every workday?

Unfortunately, they got rid of a lot of their best employees, especially the ones who realized FTD was going in the wrong direction and tried to stop it. Upper management listened to the wrong people and there was little that those of us in the trenches could do. If you pointed out the problem, you were probably one of the ones let go.

They should be done. There is a possibility of some layoffs due to the PC sale in a couple weeks. Otherwise there shouldn't be anymore until something changes. I imagine by Nov they will have a more clear picture of the future strategy. So until then everyone should be safe for now. After that, it's hard to say.

Just keep in mind layoffs are not personal, they're not a reflection of performance. It's strictly a numbers game.
