Thread regarding Dream Center Education Holdings, LLC (DCEH) layoffs

No severance for under 3 years of service

This is so messed up!!!! They are giving one week of pay for ever year worked LESS the two week “working notice”, so anyone who worked under 3 years will not get any severance! How is that fair that someone who only worked there only 2 months gets the same payout as someone who was there 2.5 years?! That is beyond unfair!!!! Unethical and once again showing NO concern or respect for employees!

Any money paid to you isn’t severance it’s required by federal law as part of the WARN Act. This states that in companies with over a certain amount of employees those employees must either be given sixty days notice for their termination date or if terminated before that date paid out for sixty days from the termination notice. No one is getting severance at this point. However, I would check to see if your state

Department of education received a letter from DCEH saying all employees would receive severance our state agency got that notice and we are looking into that as a pressure point

Wow. Guess I’m glad I was in a RIF three years ago, I knew DCEH would be a bad fit-Pentecostals to me mean snake handling and speaking in tongues-but this site has been a revelation....so to speak.

Is this even legal because there is no logic and it appears that the 60 days is starting again from July 27th and even though the schools are closing December anyone that works after sept 28th you’re sh&@ our of luck. DCEH there is a special place in hell for you! So much for this Christian values and love for uplifting the community.

TWENTY years here and I get zero severance so ...make yourself feel better. 2.5 years would rarely give much severance anywhere.

If your last day is after Sep 11th - no severance

Call HR on this, please clarify, some people are getting severance and some are not.

Be thankful if you received any thing. Some of our people were given letters stating July 27th will be their last day, but will be on payroll until September 11th ( even if they had been here a year), others are being told their last day on payroll is September 28th, and are expected to work to the end (many have been here 10 plus years).

I hear ya! I was also there two and a half years and did not get any severance. No offense to the people who were with the company for only a few months, but you’re right, it’s not fair at all. 2.5 years is a lot longer than 2.5 months, so I’m not sure why they think that’s comparable. Dream Center continues to make themselves look awful day after day.
