Thread regarding Dream Center Education Holdings, LLC (DCEH) layoffs

So many people contradicting each other on severance

Is there anybody from one of the closing Art Institutes who can help us get a definitive answer on this subject? So far I've seen people saying severance is a week per year for up to twelve weeks, a week per year for up to eight years, and there is no severance at all.

So which one of these is true? Please, if somebody of the recently laid off people is still checking this place, be kind and clear this up for us.

Assuming you received a WARN notice, email the corporate HR contact at the bottom and get the direct answer from them. They will respond.

No severance. Last day of work 7/27 paid till 9/11. Others in same department got let go on 6/29 with pay till 9/11

We are considered to be on the payroll even after our last day at work so they can call is to come back in to work at any time up until 9/11.

I will clear it up for you and I see why you are confused. Different states have different severance laws which is why you get conflicting information. Also, sometimes these laws depend on the number of employees laid off (I.e. WARN act which is in Illinois). You won't get an answer on this site because it depends on which campus you are talking about and what state it is in. Start a new thread and ask specifically about your campus or you won't get an answer. If DCEH can get away with no severance then they will.
