Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Not just IBM

Why does this entire industry believe that laying off experienced employees will solve many problems created by the inadequate and self serving upper management?

Has this ever worked for anybody?

Shouldn't the fact that there are no substantial improvements after layoffs be enough to prove how id--tic this is?

And yet EVERYBODY keeps doing it. Just, why?

Because the savings are immediate and obvious; while the costs are deferred and subtle.

Because the clueless management can’t figure out how to grow revenue so their only way to improve numbers is it cut payroll. The experienced people earn the most. It death by a thousand paper cuts. Soon there won’t be anyone left who knows how to do anything.
