Thread regarding CA Technologies (CA Inc.) layoffs

Are the Executives coming to work still?

Are the executives still coming to work or are the counting their money already? Are they working from home when the rank and file employees are no longer allowed? At their vacation homes all summer most likely? Are they hiding from people? Interested if anyone has any insight just out of curiosity always wondered how they would act once the place was sold and their fate was unknown.

I saw one in Santa Clara yesterday. The two executives that are based in Santa Clara haven’t been seen for weeks. I don’t really know the one I saw today but he did say hello to me in the hallway which is more than I can say for the rest of them. I’ve heard a lot of people say if I were them I wouldn’t be coming either. Yet if I don’t show up for work I will get fired so how is that fair? Why are they treated differently? Why is the one person I saw today the only one with the responsibility to communicate? Don’t the others have to do that too? They are still getting paid. They should have so,etching to do. If management is reading this perhaps you should allow us to follow your example and just take off work for the next few months. If the CEO can do it, it should be good for the workmen as well. I would like 3 months paid vacation. On July 12 the majority of these people disappeared. Some haven’t been seen before that date. The post below was funny about badge reports. I’d love to see them. They wouldn’t love to post them and would have more excuses about where they were. Rules don’t apply to certain people but apply to the little people. Not fair. Guess I don’t have to worry about this much longer. Broadcom executives show up for work daily I’m told, even on Friday.

Someone in IT had a good one that the executives are already on garden leave. I know of only 1 or 2 that are actually working like others said earlier and knowing those 3, they will continue to work until the end comes for them in November. The CDC closing is the first of many cuts for us. Let’s see how truly generous they are when it comes to equity. Not sure how that is even sustainable.

I saw two in Islandia. One stayed for about 3 hours and the other was here for 3 or 4 days. One was walking around and visible the other only to a small group. Regardless most of these people didn’t really kill themselves to do their jobs and will reap big benefits when I have to worry about how I am going to pay my bills. Bad life choices on my part and I ain’t mad at them for making better ones. I used to look up to our executives in the past and at my previous companies. I’ve worked for CA for almost 20 years and the only one of them that even knows my name and anything about me was in the office this week and took the time to genuinely ask me how I am doing and then followed up later in writing to a question I had. My own executive wouldn’t know me if they were in my car when I become an Uber driver for income. Not mad at them I’m mad that I dedicated myself to a company that cared in the past and doesn’t give a BLANK now.

Dennis is a good guy and doesn't count. He's a long term CA guy. The execs that are being talked about here are the hired guns with the golden parachutes.

Let's be fair. If I was one of the execs I wouldn't be showing up either.

I saw one in Islandia today and two of you count the interim sales head. Guess they all aren’t in hiding.

There are two executives that still come to Islandia, but no one comes out here like the used to a few years ago. Now that they opened an office in Connecticut, I don’t suspect anyone will come this way. I can’t think of th last time the CEO was in Islandia. I think it was 3 years ago. Largest office in the company and no visit? Opening an office close to the executives houses is one more example of the greed around here. Broadcom May be a tougher place to work but I’d rather work for them then what this place has become. I probably have a 1 percent chance of being retained but I still would rather work there then stay here.

No one coming to Manhattan on a regular basis, but what else is new. The few consistent ones that used to show up don’t show up any longer.

I was laid off in May, can anyone confirm if this thread was posted or referenced on Yammer recently? Interested in knowing how the company will respond to this or if they are even aware of this site. Glad to be out of there and not hearing everyone complaining about the acquisition. Wishing everyone left a positive experience as they move out of CA and on to the next thing.

Please post this question on Yammer. Ask one of those people that always post to post the badge report question. Can’t wait to see how certain people would react! You have nothing to lose and let’s see how transparent they will be and if they aren’t, they have something to hide. Please post!

This is the best post ever. This Execuitve Team has worked the least amount of time in the office than any other team we’ve had in history. Yet in still, this is the same group that took away working from home and summer Friday’s. You couldn’t find a team that worked less. Since the head of sales left, there are only a few other execs that show up at an office. I dare someone to post this on the internal post board and ask the executives to post their badge reports for the last year. You have nothing to lose as they can’t fire you now and I guarantee you the only two or three that will post them would be CHRO, CFO and the EVP of strategy. The others, no way. This team will go and only a few will be missed. Broadcom doesn’t believe in work from home either so some of our executives would be fired for not showing up and working from home whatever that means to them.

All the executives will be going, they know it and we know it. The company will be about 3,000 people remaining in about 1 year. The difference is pretty clear that they will walk away with money and most people will walk away with nothing. I think most executives are ready to leave, as mentioned earlier, none of them are around and only one is really available to try and help employees get through it, but he isn’t just keeping up appearances, he is trying to be honest and up front about what is to come. Send him a note and ask if you are safe and you will see what I mean. Mike didn’t care about the mainframe, the new owners do. Role reversal, as they are the only people that are safe and they most likely will be cut too at some point. The end is near and if you don’t see it, you are use dumb. I would not wait for severance and go, the market will be flooded with CA people in a few months, be smart about it.

Oh come on. Yes, 'GUY' has been keeping up appearances and acting all gung ho, but he will likely be one of the first people axed. Any CA employee has no idea what is coming, regardless of their level. We're the target this time, not the other way around. Anything that has happened in the past is meaningless. Broadcom has a plan and I doubt they shared it with anyone on the other side. Just like any company being acquired, if you are in back office role and not part of a core R&D or prime sales role, you are likely toast.

They most likely will sell off or consolidate the other products. Especially the ones that are not making money. They will go quickly and the people will be laid off. If they have the ability to make some cash on some of the other business lines they will be sold off , along with the people.

If Broadcom is primarily interested in the mainframe portfolio, what happens to the other product lines? Resold to other companies? Shutdown? Some combination?

Yup, the one GUY on that team is the only person that even remotely cares about the employees of this once great company that will become no more. The current leadership team removed so many good and loyal people over the years only to be replaced by “renters”. One group specifically got rid of all the original employees only to be replaced by more expensive, less talented people that need to use vendors to do all their work, especially if it is anything remotely creative. How many companies want to be referred to as a factory? Shame on them and the people in charge that allowed this to happen.

Agree with the post below. Most of the "new" executives are all going to take the money and run. None of them added any value to CA and if anything, put the company in a position to be sold, because they couldn't grow CA so the only option was to sell it. Now most employees will be out of jobs and have to deal with limited choices in certain markets. It is disappointing that the ELT (outside of the 2 original ones) don't really care about the people and only care about themselves. Wishing lucj to my friends at CA.

If the ELT member is the one I am thinking of, who has been with the company a long time, he is a good man and I’ve worked with on several projects over the years. I could see him talking with employees. The others are all hired guns who have already checked their stock portfolio and are speaking with recruiters. There is no way Broadcom will keep them with their inflated salaries and their egos wouldn’t let them hang around anyway.

I agree about the comment of sales management. They are starting to push CA World in November and probably trying to get to their Q2 number but which customer in their right mind would buy anything right now? Especially as CA is getting acquired by a semiconductor company and rumor is they will dump everything but the mainframe portfolio?

My executive is around and answering questions for all employees. He is one of the few people not in hiding, like most of the others are. It is refreshing to have someone that answers our questions accurately and doesn't hide from the bad news like others. Disappointing to hear that others are not sharing or being open. Not sure the rules on this site so I am not mentioning any names but any current or former employee knows who I am talking about. I bet every other executive thinks this post is about them.

Several I’ve spoke with (not top execs, next level down) are just waiting for the hammer to fall. Can’t imagine anyone in sales management is excited as it will be next to impossible to hit their quota now.
