Thread regarding Allscripts layoffs

Leaving on my own

It was one of the toughest decisions of my life, but it is finally made. I accepted an offer that will pay me less, but will provide me with ten times better work environment than I have here.

Now that the decision is made, I have zero doubts that it was the right one. This company is not what it once was, and the way it is going it will only continue downhill.

Good luck to the rest of you, I'm afraid you'll need it.

If you don't mind me asking, how much less? I'm starting to look myself.

I left in July. Truly toxic company in every area of their business. They create a punitive, negative environment and if your on the selling side.... expect to be cheated out of commission on every deal you are lucky to sign.

They don’t care a whit about doing the right thing for the customer at all. It’s just about squeezing and pushing clients to buy anything. Clients simply have zero trust for Allscripts reps at all and since their rep changes once a year, no loyalty or relationship. Every quarter is a fire drill and the strategy along with your reporting leadership changes every 5-6 months. Makes any true strategy impossible to execute because it shifts like the wind.

I moved on and found it was pretty easy to find something paying more with a much more reasonable structure and expectations.

I wouldn’t recommend Allscripts to anyone seeking a job unless you have a want for torture

Employers don't look to favorable to gaps in the employment history. For all those in support you need to be looking now...The line has been drawn. Associates vs leaders, US workers vs cheap off shore labor. Leaders compensation not for moving the company forward , strengthen the company but how much they can drain out of it. Poor management can only cut, cut and cut, successful management grows and controls costs. Get out now. don't think that the severance package will be offered or will be enough to sustain normal life for any extended period. currently there is a shortage of technically skilled workers in the Raleigh Area. Vacation is not a reason to stay anywhere when the out look is only indefinite leave.

Good Luck.. I just started with my new company. Like others have said, including more salary and much better benefits... I now have a 45% increase.

I was laid off August 2017. It was a traumatic experience. Imagine going into work one day, like any other day, and your director basically telling you that you are no longer welcome so pack your sht and go home. That's how it went down for 3 of us in my department. Others in other departments got treated the same way. There were no red flags or hints at the time. Some that were let go of had 20+ years! I'm still scarred from the experience, but there is a huge upside. I have new employment which pays me 30% more. I didn't realize how awful it was there until after all the dust settled. Allscripts is a horrible company and I am appalled that they are a "health care" business. Reach out to your network, polish you resume and get the hll out while you can. You'll be happy you did.

I was part of the oct 2017 layoffs. It wasnt a great time with companies not hiring in Q4. I had 16 weeks severance and found work in Jan while still getting a check from Allscripts. IDidnt realize how bad it was until I got with a company that treated their people right.

Better money better benefits and treated like an adult.

It's always been said it's easier to find a job when you already have one. Congrats and best of luck.

Congratulations on your leaving. I left a while back too, my own decision. The hardest part of ti was I had 2 offers and which one to accept. Leaving was never an issue. I found in the several interviews I had Allscripts is paying way less then market. I received a 30% pay raise, 4 weeks vacation, unlimited sick days ( don't abuse them ) 4 hours a month flex time.. and benefits package outstanding. So start looking. You owe it to your self, your family... network, talk to clients, search the web, higher a head hunter... just do it you will be happy you did... Would like to hear other success stories of leaving...
