Thread regarding Viacom Inc. layoffs

What Went Wrong?

How did Viacom become the weakest of the mass media companies? We've been floundering for years...

With the merger looking like a non-possibility, is there really any realistic hope of a "comeback"?

Is it more likely that Viacom will simply be bought up by a larger player (Verizon, Apple...) and then promptly stripped for parts that could still be of some value to the buyer...which in turn means more cuts...

There is a ton of interest in Viacom IP, there are plenty of companies that would be thrilled to have the Nick catalog and the Comedy Central catalog and there's definitely interest in Paramount. So the layoffs will continue until Viacom has just enough people to support operations and someone will buy us for the IP.

I think that is exactly what will happen.
