So: does anyone know how many actually died here?

The point seems to be that the equipment was delayed.

And your point? People were jumping from windows.

Firefighting equipment was delayed for awhile but they did eventually get to the scene.

Employer - privided housing is treated as “taxable income” unless on “company owned premises”. Nobody said it was against the law but it is US tax law that drives where US expats are housed at Saudi Aramco (and in any number of other places)

The 2alm post said it was against tax law. Americans were housed outside but got moved on camp preferrentially due to cost. The Radium truth will never be known. Just the memories of the lost.

No such IRS law. A number of Americans who work for Universities, Raytheon, and other such companies live in hotels, other compounds, etc. So why no US payroll were housed at Radium?

The rest is true. Expat employees helped other expat employees while Aramco scrambled around spinning the story and keeping everyone from talking about what happened.

Who said illegal? Nobody here.

The only rescuers I saw at the building on the news coverage tapes and few photos available were the filipinos with the manlift from the construction site next door. Were firefighters actually at the building? How many died at the hospital? How many died jumping?

IRS tax laws do not make it Illegal for Americans to live off camp. They just make it more expensive than Aramco wants to pay so Americans get preferential assignment to camp housing. Just math.

10 is not even close but counting does get confusing when one already has issues with attention span and focus.

Truth always comes out. It would have been better to openly report what happened instead of lamely trying to conceal the facts of this like a nasty little family incest secret. Not a good approach when the affected are treated as and viewed as dispensable hired help.

The facts are just a matter of time. Ticktock

Americans can't be housed outside the main camps for tax purposes. It's based on US law.

The main camps did pull together donations any anything else they could do for those unfortunate families. As to compensation based on what I know it was not much and certainly was not even close to what the Radium owners received from Saudi Aramco for loss of use of their substandard buildings. Must have been friends or relatives. They certainly owned accountability for the quality of the housing and never compensated anyone a dime.

Then I am more than sorry. I saw a man burst into tears the day after. It is always with me even though I wasn’t there. But the truth will never be exposed. It’s just money.

I was at the fire and I know how we were treated afterwards and how much I was compensated for all our stuff. Prettt much nothing! And that is right nothing worked in the building...

As normal, you were not there, you have not seen the contract, but just repeat rumors and innuendo. Only the facts please.

Did Loss Prevention sign off on the compound? No. Contract was signed regardless. I was not there but work with people that were. They said firemen were asking which people were muslims for rescue. People who died jumping out of windows to escape fire were deemed to have committed s---c-de to avoid paying insurance benefits. Not exactly the company’s finest hour.

Yeah, the WSJ done such a great job warning of the impending banking crisis back in the day...or maybe not... but which company in the world offers any potential employee an "Idyllic Lifestyle" in its employment contract? Headline hype? Or fact? Only the facts please...do you have proof of the allegation that Saudi Aramco jeopardized employees and their families safety? If you have a house fire, is it proof that you jeopardized your family's safety? Of course not. It depends on many factors. How many US payroll employees were housed at the Radium Housing Complex? If you were in the building and hauled out by Firemen and know how you were treated by Saudi Aramco, then spill the beans, let the world know how you were really treated. We all like facts, not inference or second hand stories that get embellished or diluted with time.

Whoever comes forward with the true death toll at this point might be the corporate whistleblower of all time.

When the whole story gets out, and it will, the cover-up will reach all the way to the top.
