Thread regarding DST Systems layoffs

Warning signs

I’ve been through 3 layoffs in 20 years. I left before it became #4. The SS&C buyout/layoffs followed the corporate playbook page for page. I was laughed at and criticized for packing my bags after the announcement in January. I only hope the best for those of you who continue to believe something that isn’t going to happen. In 2018, loyalty and fairness do not matter to anyone but small brick and mortar businesses. What you see of the old DST today will be down to a single building and the data center in 5 years. If the city of Kansas City thinks they can make SS&C a partner they are wasting their time. The city and various local charities have lost a major staple and the new company has no interest in taking up that ambassador role. Own your career and move on if you can.

If anyone is hanging on waiting for a severance package, you are a lazy person with no drive. Take control of your career/jobs and move forward doing something you actually are appreciated for. Heck, you might even make a better salary.

I gotta question anyone who just sits and waits "hoping" to get laid off, people like that are not worth hiring.

My last two weeks in October 2017 were spoiled by the layoff then. Some people were jealous I was getting out and some were resentful that they'd have to take on my work.

I did my best to help everyone I could, even putting them in touch with recruiters I know. Oddly, there are many people I know who stayed hoping for severance, which I think is a very bad decision.

Yes. This is a replay of what corporate raiders do. Loyalty is just a word thrown around
