Thread regarding CDK Global Inc. layoffs

Who decided?

Can somebody explain to me how the decision was made on who will get cut? Why did we lose some of our best people? This makes no sense whatsoever.

This certainly was not based on merit, from what I can see. I guess it was more about how much you make than how well you do your job.

Even a child can see this backfiring down the line.

Then there's promoting people who didn't deserve it after the fact... Updating my resume after that nonsense. I can make more somewhere else with the experience I've earned here.

It may look like you actually made a lot of money but you are literally doing work of 3 or more people. Layoff decision based on salary of an employee is ridiculous!

Heard a CDK leader today admit they may have made some bad decisions about who to layoff. No sh**t. They also said the layoff was due to a reorg, not the other way around. which making it sound like they had a plan. Minutes later they admit they do not have a reorg structure setup and will figure it out later which countering his own statement. Lies.

Absolutely. Some great people were cut, people who were stars. The spin they're putting on this is incredibly insulting. We were just told that the RIF followed the reorg, not the other way around. Oh please. Then why are we presented with a temporary organization? Shouldn't it be in place already?

Same problem in my office. They could have cut one person and really boosted productivity. Instead they kept that one person, and laid off many others that we actually need.

someone high'ish up in management here: Your right, there wasn't much thought put into the cuts. No managers were even included in the decision making process. a very small group of execs made the cut decisions and let the managers in on it a day before.

There's a pretty clear reason why none of this makes sense if your looking at it from a "run a company" perspective: Execs are not interested in running a company, they are 100% focused on selling the company. Cuts were done based mostly on salary/overall cost of an associate.

If you keep thinking these decisions must make some good business sense your going to have a bad time... it's just not how this, or any of the most recent decisions are being made.

No rhyme or reason in SLC. Business critical people are gone and dead weight remains. They could have cut our dead weight and we would have celebrated it. Instead we now have to take on the extra work while the incompetent continue to pull us down. Cutting our director of customer support would have saved multiple headcount and boosted morale at the same time.
