Actually every system maintenance ticket is followed by an outage. All you have to do is read the posted maintenance.

Good job to the "Osp got it done before the roc and will after they are gone." You are probably the one that created more work for everyone by taking modems offline without calling into the ROC to set up a ticket.

Also, Be careful on what you say. There is no such thing as job security so Altice might think you might be temporary.. Several OSPs lost their job when Altice decided on ATS.

It baffles me that someone would tell a group of people that are losing their job that their job was useless and the people are dry. Here is some information for that person because I am sure they are clueless. Since Altice bought Suddenlink they combined 6 ROCs in 6 different Regions into one ROC in Tyler without adding any additional headcount in June 2017. You are taking a group that use to only have to deal with a couple of states to dealing with markets from the east coast to the west coast and had 30 days to figure it out. Don't forget that every region did not do everything the same way. On top of that a week later the Tyler ROC had to learn a new Remedy ticketing system and a tool called the outage tracker. I do not want to bother anyone with the details but lets say that the programs and tools the ROC had to work with would either run slow or would crash most of the time. This could contribute to some people being "dry" because they are frustrated from being told that they would get programs and tools like Jericho that would make their job easier and more efficient and it never happened.

Now to the point of kicking back jobs and opening outage tickets when there is a maintenance ticket. when you mention the kicking back jobs I am guessing you mean the Node in Distress tickets that took the place of the SNR/FEC tickets. The threshold for the signal levels came from NY and the Tyler ROC was given strict instructions to send it back to the field if it did not meet those thresholds. Looks like now you have the opportunity to tell them yourself how you feel about NID tickets are being handled. I agree with the person that said they have to go behind other techs and fix issues properly. Tyler ROC had to deal with techs that would receive an email of a NID ticket and 5 minutes or less would email back to close the ticket knowing there was still an issue. This put more work on the ROC and your fellow techs. Did the ROC accidentally open an outage ticket when their was a Maintenance ticket already opened? The answer would be it did happen but not because they did it on purpose or to create more work for you and the ROC. The ROC had to keep up with outage tickets, WOLF tickets, Maintenance tickets, NID tickets and SNR/FEC tickets. On top of that answer emails from every market in the field and every department in the call center. Let's don't forget answering the phones and calling markets (sometimes repeatedly) for tech assignment because they did not answer the email that was sent. I am sure you could do all of this and never make a mistake.

I could keep going on and on but in short the Tyler ROC had a group of people that did the best they could with what they had. I hate to see them lose their jobs.

"Osp got it done before the roc and will after they are gone. It had temporary job written all over it since it was created."

ROC has been around more than 10 years, super temporary.

It's AC and RF bud. Only complications are the ones management makes.

Its not the same company it was. We need ROC to intercept an excessive number of tickets that we never see. Numerous outages and SROs never make it to OSP. There is also no more dispach for outages without them. Good luck when an outage pops on your route with no phone call. They sometimes send us right to the fault or common point.

Moreover, ROC doesnt make the rules regarding what tickets pass or fail and what techs get an outage. They have management making the calls just like OSP and fail QCs if proceedure isnt followed. Techs who complain about them dont understand what the business is today.

First off you need to get your facts straight before you start running your mouth about departments being worthless and back up to a department. In the glory days of the ROC, the ROC was an umbrella that had FSS (back up dispatch/home security), outages, collections, and voice ops in it. We got regionalized when Jerry Kent decided it would make it easier to sell off. ROC and dispatch is two totally different departments. Both handle field techs, but one handles maintenance and system related issues and the other handles nothing but equipment and field tech issues from installs and trouble calls. Secondly the comm desk puts in tickets but they aren't the only putting them in and there are times and actually most times there is already a ticket in for that node because they don't look. This crap about NY ROC being on the chopping block maybe true, wouldn't put any thing past this company but theres still 2 years left in that contract so you have at least two years because someone cared enough to make that deal when they sold off, not like the Texas Roc. Not sure what made the business decision to close down the Texas ROC so soon when we were approved through the end of the year. Whatever it is I hope it is worth it because it's about to be a huge cluster that affects everyone in its wake. What should have happened is given the NY ROC a fighting chance to train up and learn the Texas ROC are area and their techs. Not just tell everyone and give them 3 weeks to next to no training. All these people talk about their post names a real tech, please if you were a real tech you would know the difference between departments. I really do feel bad for the NY ROC because it's about to get heavy and it's not fair to them or the techs. It's truly what this once amazing company has become. God forbid another hurricane Harvey hits the NY ROC and the "fully trained" new hires will never make it through it and I doubt the company will either.

Closing stuff out before it’s complete? HA.

Fake stats? HA. Maybe if things were appropriately FIXED, they wouldn’t be reopening these tickets that I have to then go back on and fix what you half assed. Also, ROC doesn’t create outages, the comm desk does you fool. The only ones fudging numbers and not appropriately fixing anything is us. Because if it wasn’t, I along with several other plant techs across the fiotprints wouldn’t have to go fix it properly. Maybe if they didn’t see your tech number so often b---s---ting with “intermittent” or NTF, they would actually have a good rapport with you.

Roc is useless .... just a fancy name for Dispatch ... Kick back jobs for 0.2 percent CCER .. really like that’s causing an issue ... lol ... they call U with an Outage in the Node you have a Maintenance set up on !!! .. Useless and Dry people call U .. then put whatever U say on the Ticket .. No personalities , Did I say Useless

Fake numbers fake roc creating jobs and reopening stagnated jobs that were closed out to pad their fake stats and closing legitimate unworked on jobs in other areas to make them look better for their understaffed unqualified workforce.

There is no NYC ROC. Only ROC left is in Jericho Long Island. Sorry for all the people who lost there jobs in Tyler Texas. ROC management has no idea what they are doing. Running it into the ground since prior management left.

I guess that's why we are being asked to close stuff out before it's complete over in Jersey. Major number fudging going down. These management clowns have been fudging the numbers for ever. Finally starting to catch up.
