Thread regarding CA Technologies (CA Inc.) layoffs

How many kids take advantage of CDC?

I was wondering how much will they save based on this article below:

The average monthly cost for child care in the U.S. is $1,385, according to new analysis by Care.com. In-home care runs an average of $28,354 per year and childcare at some type of day center costs an average of $9,589 per year. Although costs vary by location, the average monthly cost of childcare in the U.S. is almost as much as the country’s median monthly rent — $1,500

In Islandia at its peak it was jammed. Lots of couples, many of whom both worked at CA, took advantage. In the last 5 years or so the numbers really dropped and they started taking in kids from the town to keep enough classes open.

For a working mother the CDC is a godsend. You can be back at work in 12 weeks and continue to nurse your child in the Nido.

It also acts as a retention tool. Many parents I’ve spoken with had plans to leave CA but not until their child enters kindergarten.
