Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

layoffs on the horizon

between now and end of year altice is planning 650-900 layoffs targeting middle management and operations. they are hiring consultants at lower wages (foreigners) to do the work of staff who have been paid well because they are with the company for too long. there have already been a few random layoffs- many more coming.

The Performance Stats are rigged. The tools are inoperable, don't work most of the time. Customer's do not receive your agent emails, repeats are the result of management policies, tech cancellations. The Sales tool and performance metrics do not add up. Management is saving their lazy friends, supervisors that fix their personal computers.

What You Want To Know About SEVERANCE BENEFITS (1/1/17)

We believe our employees are our most valuable resources. It is with that in mind that we design programs and policies to assist employees in all facets of their employment with us. From time to time, there may be circumstances when a position is eliminated due to restructuring or reorganization. In these situations, we are

committed to providing you with severance benefits to support you with this transition.

As a benefits eligible employee you would be qualified to receive severance benefits if you are employed with us up to your separation date and return a severance agreement provided for you to execute within a required time period.

The severance program, as aligned with market best practices, would include the following components:

  • Severance is calculated using your base rate of pay

  • The calculation formula is 2 weeks for every completed year of service

  • Depending on your position, severance payment baseline minimums are:

  • All employees up to Directors – 4 weeks / Directors – Vice Presidents – 26 weeks / SVP & Above – 52 weeks

  • Severance payment maximum is 52 weeks

  • Severance payments are bi-weekly on the payroll cycle

  • Bonuses, commissions, incentive payments and overtime are excluded from the severance calculation. Any commission earned as of the date of the separation of employment will be paid out in line with your commission plan.

  • Depending on when the separation occurs within the performance year, exempt bonus-eligible employees may receive a pro-rated bonus

  • Employee Assistance Program (“EAP”) provided for 12 weeks

SEVERANCE

In general, severance will not be awarded except where jobs are eliminated for economic or other business reasons. Economic job elimination occurs if and when Cablevision restructures its operations or eliminates a position for economic or other business reasons, and no other job within the Company for which you are qualified is available.

Cablevision has the right to determine whether and to what extent severance will be paid to an employee whose employment is involuntarily terminated. In any instance, the Company may grant severance, determine the amount thereof, and impose conditions for receiving any awards. The Company also may determine that no severance is appropriate in any given circumstance. No employee is entitled to severance benefits except as determined by the Company in its sole discretion.

Ready to go, if they lay you off then they have to give you a severance pay. It depends on how long you work for the company. Just keep in mind, this is not a VRP which I took last year ( 3 weeks pay for every year of your tenure) I work for the company close to 30 yrs.

"That article is from June 2016. Many layoffs happened since!"

Yes, that is absolutely correct, however, the point being made is that we're dealing with a management team that continues to deceive its employees into believing that everything is all good when nothing could be further from the truth.

Some critics have said that the only way to achieve its cost cutting goal is to decimate customer service. Goei said that couldn’t be further from the truth: “Why would we ever do that? Why would we ever make our customers unhappy that they would want to churn and go somewhere else? That’s not what we’re talking about. This is not about doing large cuts in the workforce.”

  • 4 supervisors from Jericho call center informed that they're being let go next month.

  • another 4 being reassigned to other positions.

  • all long tenured employees.

  • it's a crying shame what Altice has been able to get away with.
