Semiconductor is a volatile business where you must be prepared to move where the “biz iz. However GlobalFoundries lied to most of us failing to succeed in any node never moving from the “start-up” mode yet bleeding the locals dry with tax breaks and low or no cost Malta town infrastructure enhancements. I had to fight for my relocation benefits, struggle with the id--tic clueless HR Business Partners and suffering through at least 6 CEO changes since 2011! Im sad for the kids who now must say goodbye to their school friends or that young couple with a 30-year Malta Mortgage and a dream. Most of all, I’m sad we’ll never see any of it in the local media because GlobalFoundries aka IBM-lite has mastered the layoff in small waves to avoid bad press! We all believed their puffing and we have been made the fools. We gave our best. There is another day, another job, another challenge ahead. Squeeze every little benefit before you leave and try not to burn those bridges. Looks like the GlovalFoundries dream may be consumed by a successful giant who may rehire us all! Keep your sense of humor and take care of each other!
