Anyone hear of anything happening in September? LDW is coming up, which has made things oddly quiet, but almost too quiet. What departments would be affected by September's lay offs? any words....?

I don't understand why they don't use these layoffs to get rid of people who have been HR nightmares for years. Cost cutting is a perfect excuse to boot these jerks who nobody likes, who don't do their jobs, and constantly throw others under the bus for their own mismanagement. Where do we submit suggestions?
I don’t want to give too much info (to remain anonymous), but in a discussion with higher ups about employees currently here, one had said something along the lines of Paramount going through a “reorganization” this month... however, that could mean anything.
Also there are people who I know are supposed to get laid off but hasn’t yet. It s---s here.
My guess based on past history is that the layoffs will be on September 18th because 1) they seem to favor Tuesdays 2) They seem to favor mid-month 3) September 11th would be in poor taste. I'm just guessing the date based on past actions at this point, it's interesting that the date hasn't gotten out for this round, everyone knew May 15th and that was accurate but no one has spilled the beans for the date on this one.
Any one know what departments are going to be effected next week?
Sounds like there may be more layoffs in the next week or so, both on the domestic side and international side.
Every morning, first thing, go onto The Spot and look at your vacation/sick time. If you're going to be fired that day you'll know if its all zeroed out :) Some people also knew when their badge wouldn't work in the parking structure the morning of the layoff.
I hear layoffs are coming next week....
Other than b--ching is there any news. Bob is to speak Thursday.
Calm down, we all know how PTO works but deadlines are deadlines, your manager doesn't have to deny you time when you get a deadline that neither you nor your manager are in control of. You can take the time and end up working anyway or just not take the time. I don't have 20 days left, like most people I know, I have planned pretty well but when something is thrown at you that has to be completed and you're doing the job of 3 people, you will end either a) working even though you took the time off b) taking the time and missing the deadline thus endangering your job in an already shaky environment c) not taking the time. Also, HR doesn't really give a sh-- about that, they are there to protect the company not you.
You have been told use it or loose it. If you don't used those PTO , your manager has NOT spoken to you. Its your fault, please talk to your manager or pay a visit to HR. You are the one that looses if you don't take advantage of your benefits. you are doing it to yourself ,cut your nose to spite your face.
If your manager denies you. please GO and visit HR.
IF you have not burned days , ITs your fault.
if you have 20 days and sept30 is coming soon , its your fault
if you have a tingling you might get AX and you still are NOT burning days , its your fault.
USE YOUR BENEFIT , please
Man, stop telling people to ignore the negativity, it's pretty hard to ignore the negativity when my department has gotten CRUSHED in the last two rounds of layoffs. Great benefits and great bonus (and that is not a guarantee) mean nothing if you're waiting for the ax to fall all the time and if you're now doing the job of 3 people like I am. I am hoping to make it through the next round of cuts and hold on long enough for a bonus but that's it. I am working nights and weekends so all those PTO days that are supposed to be part of the "GREAT BENEFITS", I can't even take.
IGNORE THIS NEGATIVITY !!!!
VIACOM Has GREAT benefits, GREAT bonus...
give it all you have. the company will continue with or without these , disgruntled people.
unfortunately, layoffs do happen . To whom still here, continue on
The department heads are the people who tell us to ignore this website, but then it’s funny because everything on this website turns out to be true. Bottom line is if you are in the US and you are currently working for Viacom, it’s just a matter of time until they either terminate your position or give it to someone overseas. I found a better job recently and I’m so glad I left Viacom when I did. I forgot what it felt like to be respected and treated like a human being at work
Yes I know several people that have retired from Viacom... all in Nashville
It's Viacom - everyone gets laid off eventually. Ever known anyone to actually retire from Viacom???? It doesn't happen.
If you think you're safe at this company, you're fooling yourself - everyone has a target on their back, it's just a matter of time.
I don't know why people keep saying to ignore this board, this board has had accurate information pretty much every time something has happened. By all means, if it stresses you out, ignore I know a lot of folks who did useful things with the information
Good for you.work and keep your mind off this.
Weather is suspect or not . We can’t do much about anything...but my Dept is quiet nothing going on it’s usual in summertime. Pay NO mind to this board. Put in 110%
Hmm, not sure what department the person from the East is in but my department is almost never quiet like this, it's weirding me out.
I agree.its quiet in the east , but that’s normal.
Let’s collect BONUS. Be calm and don’t let’s the board stress you out. Too many are gone already.
From my water-cooler in LA: we are safe for now. Take this with a grain of salt though, it's just an office rumor (source: Sr Manager that's typically frank)...
