HE is a disaster. Too many people doing nothing or the same job. How many buyers do you need for the same department when we have less store? How many Vp. leads, whatever you call them for less stores?

Eddie, I'm telling you if you want to save money and payroll get rid of the bloat at HE. Pair down to the minimum of people, DM's and regional people. Cut anyone who just makes busy work for the stores to justify their jobs and get rid of anyone who has an Assistant anything or anyone. IF there is someone who has an assistant, ex. and assistant buyer, get rid of the boss and hire the assistant. The assistants are doing all the work and getting all the pain.

Anyone who is a VP of anything just buy them out. All they are doing is creating failing programs to feel like they are a part of the program. They are not they are part of the problem. Creating programs just to create a program or process to give them something to do is a waste of money and resources.

Just something to think about.

I got out a few months ago (from HE) and so glad I did. There are twice as many people at HE as they need in almost every function, don’t be fooled. They just don’t want to organize differently to allow for the org changes.

There were still people running around, chasing merchants down for ad info, for an online ad that no one ever sees.

How much does staying at HE even cost the company? They would do better to sell it (good luck finding a buyer for that much space) and move into an old, abandoned Sears or Kmart site. Imagine that moving day. Would you still work for them if that happened?

@UPZdXeV-2zig You guys are running it into the ground now. Keep your worthless jobs and finish it off. You will still be just as unemployed.

@1kcq so you think Sears will be better off as 700 small businesses competing against real retailers? Good luck with that. You are obviously ignorant of what it takes to run a business if you think that would be an improvement.

Those calling for getting rid of everyone at HE -- you want each store to make separate deals with vendors, etc.? Yeah ... that'd work.

: @UPZdXeV-1ddr Yea, because everything is running so well with the corporate DHeads running things now. Maybe if they gave some autonomy to the stores they could do a better job, as they know their store better than anyone. What marketing? What real estate, besides selling the stores?

In Sears India too rumor going around that in Sept there will either be a restructuring or layoff. Maybe true may not be. But definitely those let go will be the lucky ones.

LOL. Yeah, I'm sure the stores would run great as complete islands doing their own HR, purchasing, real estate, marketing, legal, etc, etc, etc.

@1knp - How dare you make such disparaging remarks about SHLD's ivory tower elites. You need to understand that they operate on a much higher plane than mere field associates. Their superior intellect is far beyond the comprehension of the likes of you and I. That is why they are so deserving of adulation even though they have managed SHLD straight into the abyss!

HE should be shut down. The people there are utterly clueless and have destroyed the company with bad decisions.

Xvn, Eddie is not the only swamp dweller. The entire board of directors was complicit in Eddie's destruction of the company. Never forget that.

That quote about insanity for doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results also applies to Sears itself.

For too long, Sears kept on doing things the same old way while competitors evolved....and by the time Sears decided to make changes to try to catch up to the competition, it was too little, too late.

And many of the changes came back to shoot them in the foot by driving away business.

Those that originally used the phrase simply filled the swamp with more garbage .

I don’t understand how the stores can even stay open for 4th Qtr with manufactures refusing to ship to Sears due to their financial status. Those that think the company will survive bankruptcy are delusional. Retailers come & go & its time for Sears to go.

Store closures (which mean less HE staff needed) + post Q3 results + upcoming debt payment + pre-Xmas cost savings + no more cash + bankruptcy (closer than it has ever been) = inevitable Sept/Oct layoffs (irrespective of when it might be)

As another poster highlighted this is the worst time to be looking, jobs are already drying up as budgets are squeezed to make yearly targets set at start of year. I have worked at sears for years but have savings, of all the years i have worked here this is the most realistic mass layoffs/bankruptcy has been in the upcoming few months

Repeating the same "drain the swamp" quote over and over and over on here and getting the same negative feedback results to it reminds me of another well used quote...

"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results"

This is the second time I’ve heard 9/15 for the best round. If it’s true, the people who get cut are way better off than the ones sticking around.

Those employees still working at Hoffman after having a 'ring side seat' to all the layoffs that have happened the last 3 or 4 years should not be surprised. Continuing to work there is a game of Russian Roulette. If you are the sole breadwinner for your family and still working there...you really need to get out NOW. The severance package goes by quickly, COBRA is ridiculously expensive and of course future employers are going to wonder why you stayed so long. When you do eventually get laid off, you wave to wait one week in Illinois to collect UI. Make sure your finances and emergency savings are in order, you are going to need it very soon. Also, some companies don't do much hiring around the holidays (Nov, Dec and Jan). I know it's tough to leave a place you have worked for when you have been there for a long time, but I think most folks on this board would agree- it's over. The market cap of Sears is what ...100 to 120 million? At one time wasn't it like 9 or 10 billion not too long ago? When a company shrinks by 95 percent what else can be said?

Yeah.....the "drain the swamp" expression has gotten old, tired, and irrelevant long ago.

@kdl you might be enjoying your old joke but the only swamp dweller is Eddie. No one at HE breathes unless it is at the direction and approval of Eddie which prevents any true transformation or customer-first thinking. He alone drove this into the ground for his benefit and wealth while the employees and former employees like myself worked our tails off. Only sorry in retrospect.
