Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Use the resources!

Anyone that is still employed at Sears should use any remaining vacations you have left along with sick days. Use them all ASAP! When the company goes BK nothing is left you will lose here so if you got any vacation or sick days just use them!

Please dont let anyone brain wash you that the company will still make it the stock is at an all time low you don't want to end up getting screwed here.

Document every time you are denied vacation time and then go to your state Attorney General or to the state labor board. All SHC is trying to do is to try and not pay for time when they are not getting anything out of it. Could also be illegal in some state to deny vacation and sick leave.

I know of one person who was denied using vacation four or five time during the year (not during black out times) and won treble damages from Sears. I would also mention that to your manager.

@UNWcIeV-sbv OP here no disrespect at all I have heard that before as well. I heard people trying to use their vacations and managers making an excuse when trying to use them. I feel that it has to do with them not wanting to pay the vacations. I have had them ask me why I been using vacations lately (I been using them one a week and had a good pile of them) I told them oh I just want a day to relax. I suggest if they wont let you take a week just request one day if possible two until its all burned up.

No disrespect to the OP (and in fact it's a good public service announcement) but how does someone use vacation days when every time they put in for it, it gets denied more often than not? I've had my vacation denied even though I put in those days well in advance. The manager says we're short staffed. I heard that excuse about 10 times. Why not let me take my vacation and give my hours to someone else? Unfortunately it is looking like I will have to risk it and cash them in when I quit.

That's right. Employees become unsecured creditors during bankruptcy. The money that would pay those obligations are doled out at the discretion of the court. And in a liquidation, would be paid from liquidation of assets after payment of debts. Since debts far exceed assets, employees would receive nothing, as would stock holders, unsecured vendors, etc.
