Thread regarding CA Technologies (CA Inc.) layoffs

Listen up

Firstly, stop calling people by their initials. Why are you trying to create a wierd semi anonymity? And please please stop calling Mike bike boy, it's not smart or clever. It's really lame

Secondly, they aren't going to get rid of 8000 people of day 1 of acquisition. It's going to take time. They will get rid of some straight away, not many. If you are gotten rid of straight away, you really weren't necessary and should never have been there.

Stop being racist to each other. The guys in India are clearly doing a good job

Lastly, it's going to get tough. You are lucky if you receive a package, you do not want to be one of the ones that are left over, it's going to be hell. Incredible stress, loads of extra hours, and your benefits stripped away. You need to get out as soon as possible.

You don’t need much to run a software development company. You need competent, motivated developers to build a quality product with no regression, on time, every time, and salesmen to go out and sell the product. Dev/R&D/Engineering/Support and Sales are the backbones of any software development company.

Real classy comment OP "If you are gotten rid of straight away, you really weren't necessary and should never have been there." you don't seem to KNOW how integrations work but for those that are let go day 1 (and there WILL be many) that doesn't mean that you were not providing value to the company all along. It simply means that the function is either redundant or not applicable in Broadcom's extremely lean business model and go-forward strategy. Good luck to all.

I’ve met and worked under every CA CEO - Charles, Sanjay, Cron, Swainson, McCracken and Gregoire. Gregoire started off as someone who seemed to want to drive needed change, but at some point probably realized it wouldn’t happen and the best solution was to sell the company and cash out. When this happened I don’t know, but I think the anger now is that he changed. That’s life.

Ultimately how many get laid off, etc. isn’t a Gregoire responsibility. His only job now is to get to November and close the deal. And then collect a lot of cash for himself.

I agree with this post, but I think when you are an executive you are prepared and paid handsomley to deal with this drama. This is thelayoff.com not CNN news. This is a great site, but most people never heard of it before July 11th.

Broadcom is going to cut people. Get over it. Most people inside get it. Focus on moving forward and not being bitter. Life will go on.

Op is being fair. No need for names and insults. Do the math if worth sticking around foe severance And retention do it. But be ready to work crazy hours and enter a saturated market if your skills aren’t in demand. Else try your luck now. Do minimal work and interview. CA is convoluted if 8k were let go day 1 place would fall apart. Some lightson people are essential. But most bloated middle managers and paper pushers their time is up. This applies to all departments and locations. NA is just more costlier to keep people on board. There is life outside of CA. Get over your cushy commute and 3 day pet bonding time off and get moving.

I'm sorry, but Bike Boy deserves every bit of derision he receives. I've met all but one of the CEOs and he by far was the worst. He came off as typical narcissist who valued only his own opinion, but accepted blame for nothing. In the hour or so he spent with a team made up mostly of R&D, he spent most of it yelling at us for some missed target or perceived slight on him. When you met Charles, he came up and shook your hand, and asked you about your project. I don't think Mike even knew what division we worked in. Someone pointed out on Yammer, neither employees or customers have been mentioned in any press releases. This merger has virtually zero benefit on the CA side, except for the ELT and the board.

People who use initials are in the know. There is a lot of angst against Gregoire, not least is his $50 million parachute.

It’s unlikely they will get rid of 8000 on day 1. Labor laws in many countries will make it 30, 60 or 90 days. But the cuts will be deep day 1. I’d bet 2000 right away. Hock has to show how this will work financially and quick.

I reserve opinion for the ITC guys...some are good, some aren’t.

Clearly someone who thinks they are smarter than everyone else and likes to be in charge. If you want us to listen, why don’t you post some concrete details if you are “in the know”

  • how many ca employees will be employed by Broadcom by January 2020?

  • how many laid off?

  • How many sold off?
