Thread regarding ADP layoffs

Any layoffs incoming?

Are we safe at least until the end of the month or is that too much to ask for?

I think they meant by gross net that the amount left over after the government gets done stealing from you is disgusting.

Pay remaining after tax is disposable pay.

There is no such term as gross net pay. Gross pay is total comp. Net pay is what you keep. Gross net pay makes no sense. You may have subdivisions of net. Checking, savings etc. You can't by definition have a gross net. If you had a gross net, you would then be required to have a net- net.

More commonly referred to as Gross to Net Pay. (honestly never heard a reference to "gross net pay". Gross minus all deductions. Taxes are one. 401k, medical, life insurance, garnishments, and anything else you are having deducted from your paycheck that doesn't end up in your bank account are others.

Gross net pay is the take home pay after taxes have been taken out. If you work for a living, just take a look at the detail lines on your paycheck stub. This is basic knowledge for payroll professionals.

ADP does not care about you and never will. They only care about their stock price and squeezing the life and soul out of you. You would be surprised at how much better life is to not work for soul crushing ADP.

ADP = A Depressing Place

Everyone who is lucky enough to go work for a ADP client most likely has the same thing in common on the new job. When working in payroll for a company and you have to contact a ADP rep

It’s sad however not surprising how the lack of knowledge and clueless many of the new hires are working for ADP. Note to all new hires, if you do not know what gross net pay means you should not be working in the payroll industry.

Screw ADP. Screw Carlos. Screw the Board of Directors. It's coming back to bite you.

In addition, it's a small payroll world....many ADP employees end up working for ADP clients and they would burn bridges more than they already are if they burned those being laid off.

While it is true that by law companies are not required to give layed off employees anything, I don’t foresee this ever happening at ADP.

The reason why they give severance is to avoid lawsuits. In order to get the severance you need to sign a waiver which states you will not sue ADP either now or anytime in the future for any reason. So in effect they are paying you off to avoid any future litigation. I’m sure it’s cheaper to do that than deal with the many lawsuits they would certainly have if no package was offered.

Please don’t think they are doing this out of the kindness of their heart!

I’m sure if there was another way around getting sued they would not be offering anything.

@UHLxD4d-5iis: Laughing at the Milleniass who went real deep for no reason. You just received an A in the Personal Finance 101 class, right? All that said with school debt up YOUR behind, and you try to school others. News Flash: We ALL exchange time for $$$. For your $$$ you SOLD SOMETHING, and still don't have 12 months of savings.

STOOOOOOPPPPP IT!!!

I think that just about everyone who posts here knows that ADP or any other company in the US is not obligated to give its laid off or otherwise terminated workers anything. Last time I checked, the US is not a socialist country.

This concept is quite easy to understand for just about any worker who has worked in the US. You dont get nuttin!

Keep in mind that companies are not obligated to give you ANYTHING if you are laid off. You may apply for unemployment insurance but ADP can let you go with NO severance at all and it will be completely legal.

If you have never heard this before, Personal Finance 101 should have taught you that you should have enough savings to cover at least 12 months of your current living expenses should you happen to lose your job. Severance should be considered a bonus.

All indications are the next big layoff is coming sometime in September. I know some people who were already told by their mgrs last March that they should proper to br layed off in September. Some mgrs do give their people heads up to prepare which i think is very admirable. Most don’t do this.
