Thread regarding ADP layoffs

Several things need to be kept in perspective

The newbies don't realize that associates used to be able to buy ADP stock through the 401(k) program and that was taken away several years ago so that only those who received a share or two from their 5 or 10 year anniversaries had the ability to vote. Oh, they stopped that 'gift' as well. ADP stock has more than doubled in the last five years and it is not the employees who are benefiting from this. If you want to see who is making $ then search for ADP stock exercised on the internet. It is public information.

ADP used to revere their consultants and reward them in MANY ways because they were the individuals who were keeping their clients from leaving the company and moving to our competitors. Ultimate was started by ex-ADPers who knew our weaknesses and they're making a fortune with the help of hundreds of people who used to work for ADP. People want to be appreciated and Ultimate knows how to do that.

It is no secret that the El Paso and Maitland offices were opened to hire people at lower pay in order to replace the tenured employees. If you work in one of those locations and are unhappy about this news then get your resume together and move on.

ADP needs to recognize that there are too many overpaid managers and not enough (correctly paid/appreciated) customer service agents. Who wants to see Carlos make a visit to your office and see him take a call or two? I do!

That's fine to think that the higher-ups who are making these decisions will get theirs eventually, but it doesn't help those who are trying to get another job now after spending decades at ADP. The people who decided to do these layoffs and early retirement plans will walk away with millions and won't care about the little people who were collateral damage.

Just remember everyone, every dog has its day. For these top executive groups of people-- who are making these horrible life-altering decisions that affect so many workers--they have no conscience. But I know the Man Upstairs is seeing all this and NOTHING gets by HIM!!! :)

The Children's Christmas Party was eliminated last year at the Alpharetta ADP. Replaced by lame ugly sweater contest and 12 days of Christmas for those in the office.

The only thing that needs to be kept in perspective is the top dozen or so executives at ADP are morally bankrupt individuals that lie, cheat, and steal at any cost to pad their own wallets, regardless of how dedicated or performant an employee is or was for the company. They have absolutely zero concern for the thousands of employees affected or their families. I for one am calling them out!

Let's hope their families experience the same very soon. One giant middle finger to ADP!

I also started at ADP in 1987 and witnessed those pullbacks through the years. Also, management used to take associates out for a free lunch on or near the associate's company anniversary date. The manager would formally thank the associate for their contribution during the year at that lunch. Then later, groups of people with anniversary dates on the same month would all be taken out to lunch. Then later, that practice was stopped because it was "too expensive". Then the awarding of stock on the anniversary date became too expensive. And, of course, the $25 turkey and hams for the holidays became too expensive. Now paying associates decent salaries has also become too expensive.

Agreed.....I started at ADP major accounts in Clifton , NJ in 1987. Moved to CORP ADP in Roseland NJ in 1994, 1 ADP Blvd......ADP is nothing like it was or ever will be. The new hires have no idea or clue what a great company it was.

What a shame....

For those that have around for a while I’m sure you have all noticed every year something gets pulled away. It’s been done very subtle just one thing per year but if you look back over several years there are a lot of benefits that have been stopped. Not going to going into each one here but previous posters in this thread have already mentioned several. It’s a shame the company has changed so much over the years and not for the better. Like previous comments have stated the newbies will never know this.

They stopped awarding anniversary shares a few years ago. No more stock splits either.

Yes, I also agree that this was well said. Just wanted to add that the Norfolk office, along with the El Paso and Mailtland offices, also was planned to hold the new low-cost employees and now houses these poor souls.

I am also wondering if ADP is going to cut more labor costs by having employees bring in their own toilet paper. Sounds like a great plan and Carlos should consider that. Perhaps charging rent for employee cubicles and offices is also a good idea. Better yet, have the employees chip in and buy the El Paso, Maitland, and Norfolk offices from ADP and then donate them to the company to further defray the costs.

Perhaps the real answer to ADPs "expensive" labor costs is to have their employees be all unpaid volunteers. That would save an astounding amount of money for the company and would prevent future layoffs. Employees could rest easy knowing that they would never get laid off since it would not be possible for ADP to get cheaper employees. Sounds like a win-win situation to me. Maybe someone should give Carlos a call and see what he thinks about that.

Interesting...I thought all companies took stock option for 401K after Enron. Haven't gotten anniversary shares in a long time but you can do the employee stock purchase, only 5% but better than nothing.

Question for the original poster... (or for anyone who knows)....

You mentioned associates been able to buy stock through the 401(k) plan. Are you actually referring to the ADP stock purchase plan which was available to associates for several years? We did have the option to buy ADP stock as part of our 401(k) retirement plan but that was eliminated quite a few years ago.... however we still had the option to purchase shares outside of a retirement plan via the stock purchase plan. When that criminal Gary butler became CEO he screwed up the stock purchase plan and made changes which made it far less attractive however we still had the option to buy the shares (at a 5% discount as opposed to a formerly 15% discount... among other negatives).

I left ADP in 2016 and at the time they were still offering the stock purchase plan. Are you telling me that that has been eliminated as well? As well as the anniversary shares?

Just looking for a little clarification here...

And also I'm wondering if you can verify.... does ADP still stock The bathrooms with toilet paper or our associates required to bring their own from home?
