I am hearing 400 from Calgary, in October.
Not sure how true this is. My HR friend who works at Nexen said its going to be around 500 in the north America division. Its a sh-- show there.
Any chance somebody here knows if either of these is true? And has more info on it if it is?
Any update on this? It's so demoralizing to go to work every day knowing you might not have a job tomorrow.

This is not true. Chinese don't like to hear bad news about them, they will try to make it smooth. discussions taking place to see if this can be done with less pain. perhaps moving some folks to overseas. some of them work in UK, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America. CNOOC is making very good money overseas so things are progressing. If they layoff over 50 people you will see it in newspapers. Chinese don't like it. They will try to do in small packs if they choose to do so.
Unfortunately 400 is what I am hearing as well. After 10+ years at this company I am really looking forward to get a package this time. I honestly feel I would have been much better off career-wise if I worked somewhere else.
Note sure if it's true or not. The rumor on our floor is between 350-500 as well. we have to wait until 1st week of October to figure it out.
