Thread regarding CA Technologies (CA Inc.) layoffs

What’s it like on the inside?

I was let go in May as part of the latest RIF. How are people handling this news? I see a lot of posts about Islandia but not much about other locations. Has the company been communicating or did I read correctly that the executives are all on vacation and in hiding? As many said before there is life on the outside.

sure, the support org is safe and everyone will be retained. And then they will renew the lease in Islandia for another 100 years too and reopen the CDC and allow employees to work from home and everyone will get a raise. Good luck with that delusional person. You will miss the CA ELT, most are awful, it’s too bad you won’t be around to see real awful.

I'm in support too but not islandia (I work remotely). I'm guessing our days are numbered. CA marketed US-based support as an advantage. I don't know that a Singapore company will see it that way...

I for one cannot wait for Broadcom to take over. The leadership at CA has been horrible. I hope Hock Tan has a soft spot for us in Support in Islandia. I would LOVE to work for a company like Broadcom.

Let it be. Retool and move on if it doesn't fit you or vice versa going forward. Your memories are yours and your connections should help you far beyond ca. We have seen the dud leaders and the good ones. Life moves on, plan versus contemplate.

In Finance I think we realise as with any acquisition no matter the acquiring company our roles will disappear, it’s just how soon. With some of the messages we are getting and how things generally are at the moment I am guessing that a lot of us would rather it be sooner....

Everything is stopping yet stays the same, showing that CA can lose plenty of headcount and still bring in revenue for His Hockness.

Good time to kick back and play some games!

It is pretty depressing on the inside. Most people don’t want to work for Broadcom. Most people don’t want to quit either, as such, the next few months are not fun. Most people don’t even come to work any longer. A few managers are visible and trying to message the right things. As many have said before it is a sad end to what used to be a great company. Shame on most of the current management, only KM, GD and JL truly cared for their people. The ones all hired by MG are short timers taking their big checks and leaving. OB is the exception to the MG hires. Too bad those 4 will be the only ones missed. MG talked so much about SaaS and the future, let’s see what happens to SaaS under real management that actually shows up for work and understands how to operate a real profitable business.

I’m not in a BU, in G and A. Luckily I am under no fascination of being kept and am ready for November to get here. CA had many pros and cons, but ready for the next chapter and realistic it will not be with Broadcom.

I have heard absolutely nothing from leadership except the person everyone keeps mentioning. My VP, SVP and GM have been silent since the announcement. #LeadAtCA

And which product line will be able to survive other than Mainframe?

Right. Mike is invisible, he typically takes the entire summer off. He has never worked that hard so I assume nothing will change there. He sold us and doesn’t care. My ELT has been pretty straight forward with us and basically said we won’t have roles going forward. Other ELT members have told their groups not to worry. Based on everything we are hearing, there is plenty to worry about for most people at CA. I largely agree with the other comments about the ELT but only one has been visible and around and he is well aware that he won’t have a job. I’ve always appreciated his honesty and transparency, something that can’t be said about the CEO “BMC fake news” at the Town Hall. Was fake huh? He has more communications people supporting him and still can’t get it. Whatever.

Mike is absolutely mum and did not speak a single word after 11 July acquisition mail. Never saw such a useless CEO who does not care for their employees.

CA ELT never tells truth

CA will be just be a division of Broadcom, but not in the sense of being independently operated, which is every CA back office person’s hope. Hock has said publicly CA will be fully integrated into Broadcom. There will be many, many layoffs to pay the bills. They are buying CA not for talent but for cash flow. But I wouldn’t expect any of CA’s ELT to tell the truth, they’ve said similar things before and then gutted or laid off big swathes of the company.

So far they are feeding us the "Broadcom bought CA for our talent" BS and playing it like CA will just be a division of Broadcom and nothing will change. No one is buying it... but typical CA management keeping everyone in the dark and blowing smoke as usual.
