Thread regarding DST Systems layoffs

Severance vs lawsuits

Was there anything in the severance package that explicitly forbid anyone that was laid off from participating in future litigation against DST/SSC?

I heard the Valeant fiasco with the profit sharing may be going to arbitration. Wondering if recently RIF’ed can add their names to the list?

Look at the average age of those laid off. Most were 50+. Some could be thinking they could sue for age discrimination, But the real reason was these employees made more than the younger employees. So based on salary, not age...just same result. So you have to sign away your right to sue (which you would lose anyway) or forfeit your severance.

To the original poster, I believe the mismanagement of our retirement funds is a completely separate issue. I was let go and I've signed a letter of engagement with Ted Kapke regarding the mismanagement of retirement funds. It isn't whining. It is making the executives, that are very well compensated, accountable for doing their jobs in a smart & thoughtful way.

It is time sensitive so check with them soon to see what the deadline is.

Good luck...

@U7LRLFn-2jfk You are obviously no longer employed by DST for some years. DST went to PTO without carryover couple years ago terd.

Are the girls from STS still working at Dst? They charmed so many managers with their looks, liberal morals and skills, that I can't believe any were in the layoffs.

As a way of saving $$ ss&c will change the vacation policy to a pto policy. You use it or lose it within a year. No carryover. In one swoop they will save millions.

So as an employee at will, we can leave whenever we want but are expected to give a two week notice!! If we don’t, then the company would give a bad reference.. Sounds fair??? NOT!!!

@U7LRLFn-dsu: even though employees in the US are generally employed at will, and can be fired at anytime, there may be actions by the employer that are illegal, such as firing on the basis of race, gender or religion. Sometimes, legal action is certainly justified. We have no knowledge of why the OP asked the question. Jeez, what wild reactions. Chill, people.

The severance specifically excluded any existing litigation, I.e. the Valeant profit sharing suit. I believe severanced employees can still participate, and I will. This was from several years ago and has nothing to do with the SS&C buyout, other than the fact that they will be on the hook for any judgement.

I'm sorry, but DST and SS&C owe you nothing. Be grateful you have a job today. I honestly cannot believe the stupidity of some of the people on here.

YOU ARE AN EMPLOYEE AT WILL -- YOU CAN BE LET GO AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON.

Understand? You are owed NOTHING. Be glad for those who got laid off that they even received a severance package. Sniffing around trying to get people to agree with you about suing a company that has the right to reduce its work force is the epitome of lazy and stupid. Time to grow up and realize sometimes a company will have a RIF and that is just life.

Christ what a lot of miserable trolls post on this site. OP gave enough clues for you idiots go by and at the very least educate yourselves. Instead we've got mr "stop whining and complaining loser, your to stupid to leave" and mrs "what are ya gonna sue for, being a loser"? responding instead. Both of you need to just stop, you're bringing down the level of discussion with your stupid noise.

So here, I did the hard work for you:

yeah, what exactly are you trying to sue DST for? Seems like you are trying to get some $$$ when you really don't have a valid reason. Are you one of those hanger on types?

Don't tell people to move on. You sound like someone paid to tell people to move on or probably just one of the robots at SS&C. None of them have any decision making authority. It all comes from Bill Stone. Be quiet.

When you accept a severance package, you forfeit any further legal action. Also, you sign off that you will not discuss your severance package or bad mouth the company.

Why can't some of you just let go and move on?

Looking to seek legal action because you lost your job? Pfffft. You need to stop being so lazy and just find another job.

You cannot win against corporate companies and you would wind up giving any potential compensation to an attorney.

Wouldn't it just be easier to get a new job, be happy and start living life again instead of beating a dead horse?

Sheesh. Some of you are really having a difficult time moving on.
