Thread regarding DST Systems layoffs

Laying off while others are hiring

I think this perfectly describes the idiocy of DST's decision to lay off so many experienced and talented people. If we don't want them, plenty of others will scoop them up immediately.

Surprise surprise me the old fart yes ,over 50 got employed the next day after I was let go.

I call BS on this; only way this would happen is if someone had Super Hot In Demand Supremo skillz. Sure a couple of people did, but do you seriously think any of the cobol programmers or business analysts will have as easy of a time?

Don't listen to the ignorance on this site. Surprise surprise me the old fart yes ,over 50 got employed the next day after I was let go. Better salary, great hours and better benefits! If SS&C doesn't recognize good talent, trust me another company will. So thankful to be gone! Yes Virginia there is life after DST!

No, they will not be scooped up. What company is going to hire old farts (most of the people were 50 - 65 years old)? They want younger cheaper workers. Those in the June 26 layoff will struggle to get jobs that pay anything close to their old salary even thought 444DST pay is crappy.

They can keep a skeleton crew in kc but all of IT s equipment will be moved. They already have huge data enter in New York that supports all its subs. It’s expensive to move but to them they can monitor all the equipment bought. They don’t allow the subs to buy large batches of equipment-cost control. Their teams will mAintain servers. Cheaper that way. As support goes they already have IT teams working for the othe subs so it’s no big deal.

CT is too expensive a location. They won't move anyone there.

They don’t need that many locations so they will move everything to CT especially the datacenters.

They don't need the ecxess of employees. They bought DST for the client base.

Get ready for more cuts.

.Bottom line is $$. Human capital is expensive and that’s always the first to go.
