Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Employees in Schenectady already being informed of layoffs

Everyone already knows from Stan Genega’s all hands meeting a couple weeks back, that there are imminent layoffs coming to hourly workers in Schenectady. The final number has not been released but apparently the Union already knows these numbers and has called some individuals with low seniority and told them they will be getting the axe when they come back from plant maintenance shutdown. A little transparency from our Union officials would be nice considering the fact that many people’s livelihoods are riding on this. But considering the shady deals Local 301 has made in the past, this should come as no surprise to anyone.

No Pension, Making subpar pay, was told a career not GE is a second class job. You can go anywhere and get subpar pay, a 401k, and crap healthcare!

Building 273 has no tolerance for people standing around or goofing off those day's long gone. Breaks enforced no sitting or standing around allowed. No phones or tablets either.

Want to know who is only working 2 hours a day go to building 53 any floor. Unlimited vacation, work hours 10-3, paid for a 40 hr. week. Also did I mention working 10-3 was mostly either FB or doing school work/ on line courses so they can move up in GE. Think I'm kidding see for your self. While your there go to the 5th floor, you can play ping pong, write on the walls, play X box, and even play bowling. No mention of these people leaving. Renewables is where it's at

I would love to know who only works for 2 hours a day at the Schenectady plant that's untrue they are enforcing breaks and took all the chairs away. No sitting around allowed no phones or tablets allowed. The old GE is gone no longer an okay place to come and work. Might as well be a Jail.

T rate is market based rate fir work performed vs the globally uncompetutive legacy union (higher) rates.

Companies would love to give advance notice of layoffs, unfortunately a few fools spoil it for everyone.

How so, creating phony worker's compensation claims (to try and secure future $'s) and filing bogus discrimination charges (hoping that the mere appearance of retaliation may impact whose selected for lay-offs).

I can not wait for the layoff and chaos at GE in Schenectady! The place is ran by a bunch of ARC residents if you ask me. It’s just a fly by night job! Not a career for T Rates! And the union blows!

They need to shut Schnectady down. The place is a welfare cess pool. GE is paying people to sit around all day doing nothing, the union is a joke, and Power is just an anchor on the stock price!!

If you have 5 years or less I’d worry about it. If they give an exact number the people who think they are gone will likely stop working or worse sabotage stuff. So as wrong as it is. It’s stupid for the company to give a number when these people have weeks left. Also one think I’ve learned about this site is. 95% f what is posted here is false. So the union knowing about the number is not really believable to me. They might know there’s a layoff coming if even that. I don’t wish anyone harm but honestly you walk around the plant and you see people working for maybe 2hrs a day what you think was going to happen.

The layoffs are definitely imminent. The rumor is that production (those who voucher their time to a job) will be hit heavily. Indirect (inventory control, inspection, etc.) will be hit as well but not as heavily.

Because we know the layoffs to be FACT at this point, based on the plant manager’s last meeting, not knowing the numbers and exact impact is basically inhuman at this point.

If someone on here knows the REAL TRUTH- please report it!
